Are you an ambitious subject matter expert within class III medical devices and ideally have experience with stem cells? Would you like to join the Novo Nordisk team responsible for development of class III devices and to bring your experience and knowledge to the table? If yes, this role may be for you.

The position

As Senior R&D Engineer you will join our team responsible for development of class III medical devices. You will be responsible for concept development, product development and documentation with focus on:

  • Concept and development process, specification and design of function models and prototypes,
  • Test planning and tests of models and prototypes – devices alone and in combination with cells
  • Participation in defining performance characteristics, preparation of specifications, participation in material selection,
  • Specification, design, test planning and tests of function models and prototypes,
  • Design of products and test setups, both before design control and during design control,
  • Participation in production maturing activities DFM/DFA,
  • Participation in robust design activities according to established project targets.
  • Involvement in activities with external partners and internal stakeholders,
  • Task coordination, device testing alone, or device testing with stem cells,
  • Support IP discussions from a technology perspective,
  • Participation in writing test protocols for feasibility studies, and design control studies and participation in evaluation and preparation of patents.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you need to have:

  • Master’s or PhD degree and min. 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent knowledge through relevant practical experience,
  • Experience in Stem Cell delivery technologies,
  • Experience in development of class III medical devices,
  • Experience in test methods for class III medical devices.

Additionally, skills within several of the following fields are expected:

  • Cell biology assays for measuring cell function and interaction with tissues and device,
  • 3D modelling tools,
  • Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools,
  • Polymers or material science applicable for class III devices,
  • Mechanical Design of devices and/or disposable/durable plastic parts,
  • Concept development and ideation,
  • Development of processes, components and analysis methods.

As a person, you are flexible and adaptable as the tasks are multiple, variable and the priority of projects may change and may range from specialist oriented to a more general character. You are ready to adjust your schedule leading to overtime when met with periods of increased workload. You are fluent in written & spoken English.

About the department

The department of Stem Cell R&D Devices is a newly established unit within the Stem Cell R&D area. The unit consists of device project managers and key specialist areas such as system engineering, risk engineering and biomedical engineering needed to progress devices to clinic and later to the market. The unit is expected to deliver device development competencies to stem cell device projects, and work closely together with other stem cell competency areas in stem cell research and development areas. Last, the unit works with multiple external stakeholders to progress projects. It provides a dynamic and diverse workday for people in the unit.
