In Devices & Delivery Solutions, we are more than 300 colleagues who design and develop innovative delivery and connectivity devices and digital therapeutic solutions for the Novo Nordisk drug pipeline. Only by considering what is valuable from a patient perspective can we help people live a life with as few limitations as possible. That’s what we call empathy-driven innovation. Delivery and connectivity devices support patients in taking the right dose, in the right way, on the right time. Digital therapeutics enable a much more meaningful dialogue between the patient and health care provider.

All of this leads to improved outcomes which in turn means that patients are further supported in following their treatment regimes. To ensure this development journey our delivery and connectivity systems are developed in close collaboration between patients and the scientific discovery teams across Novo Nordisk.

The Head of Electrical Engineering and Embedded SW is a member of the Delivery Systems Engineering leadership team and is overall accountable for all deliverables related to the electronics and embedded firmware of our connected drug delivery systems.

The position

The Head of Electrical Engineering is responsible for leading a technical organization developing connected drug delivery products. As leader, you will be accountable for building a leading technical organization through the attraction, development and retention of electrical engineers and software developers. In addition to developing your people, you will be driving the overall development processes within these domains and building the infrastructure and necessary tools and partnerships to do so. In order to be successful, you will have to effectively influence and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders to not only lead the development function but develop strategies for the life cycle management of our products across manufacturing and IT organizations and a myriad of external partners and suppliers.

The Head of Electrical Engineering & Embedded Software is representing, and acting on behalf of, the Device and Delivery System organization in several forums across development, manufacturing, IT and digital health. As leader, you must drive results in developing reliable products and execution plans through technical rigor across EE/SW architecture, electrical design, and robust code. In addition to these activities, you will be deeply involving in shaping the technology roadmaps, product roadmaps and partnerships needed to build a robust 3-5 year pipeline of solutions to meet patient needs.

Main responsibility relates to below areas:

People & Team Development: Be able to attract top talent and develop engineers and software developers to reliable execute on timelines for cutting edge connected solutions. Create a culture of hands on design and development with deep levels of trust and significant focus on personal development and team agility.

Technical Execution: Reliably deliver complex development programs on-time through a network of internal and external partnerships. Ensure the appropriate levels of technical rigor to commercial robust technologies that meets the user needs.

Process Development: Develop the needed processes and infrastructure to optimize our development activities with an aim of accelerating development, driving efficiencies and creating an agile, hands on culture.

Collaboration & Partnerships: Ensure smooth collaboration between same comment as SE and other critical internal partners including but not limited to; product supply, digital health, IT, regulatory, marketing, digital therapeutics, etc. Build upon and develop meaningful external partnerships across various development partners, manufacturing partners, suppliers, commercial digital health ecosystem partners and innovators in the field to commercialize meaningful product systems.

Innovation: Ensure robust technology and product roadmaps are developed through internal and external collaborations as to continuously innovate across the portfolio.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we imagine you have a self-driven nature, very strong stakeholder management capabilities, people skills, and you have a deep technical foundation to ensure robust product development.

  • Master’s degree or PhD within relevant engineering areas.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience within Medical Device, Pharmaceuticals or other relevant sectors.
  • Profound technical knowledge in electrical engineering, software development, high volume electronics, software architecture, coding and testing.
  • Strong leadership and people management experience.
  • Proven track record of developing, commercializing and scaling products.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills required to ensure involvement internally and externally.
  • Attention to details and a preference for structure, planning and coordination.
  • Fluency in both verbal and written English.
