Hi there!

My name is Christian Theill Nielsen and I’m looking for the next person to join my team. If you would love to drive online sales growth of landside transportation products, then this role is for you!

Well, being one of the world’s largest logistics companies, it probably has been on one of our ships, planes, trucks or through one of our warehouses at some point. We probably also shipped the raw materials into the production.

In essence, we integrate the world. And a more integrated world improves life quality and prosperity for all. For more than a century, we have been a leader within shipping logistics. However, we think we can do better and integrate even more. A few years ago, we made the decision to double down on delivering an exceptional end-to-end experience for our customers throughout their entire supply chain. This led to an expansion of our landside transportation business.

That’s where my team comes in. We’re globally responsible for continuing to exponentially grow our transportation over land, which is already yielding revenue around 6bn USD. This is via truck you see on the road, the train you see on the railway, or the barge you see on the river. To do that, we have gathered a fantastic team of people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. But we need one more. One who can drive growth on our online sales channels.

Key responsibilities

Your formal title will be Digital Growth Manager, Landside Transportation. In this role you will be responsible for the revenue growth of the landside transportation products sold through online channels. Overall, the main customer segments we serve through online sales are; small businesses served on Twill (www.twill.net) and freight forwarders served through Maersk Spot (www.maersk.com/transportation-services/maersk-spot).

Overall, you will in this role have to both ‘define where we need to go’ as well as ‘run activities that take us there’. You will have high autonomy to define your own role – however, to get you started on your thinking, I’ve thought about the following potential outcomes:

Longer term focus (‘where we need to go’)

  • Full understanding of customer needs, buying processes, etc. and optimal offerings towards these

  • Clear vision and strategy for an optimized online product offering mix that fits with other Maersk products as part of an integrated offering

  • Right prioritization of customers and geographies combined with the right ambitious growth targets


Shorter term focus (‘take us there’)

  • Pipeline of hypotheses on elements we can do to improve based on analysis of performance/pipeline data

  • Continuous flow of experiments, e.g., special promotions, that test hypotheses which subsequently get implemented at larger scale if proven effective


For all of the activities, you will have to collaborate extensively with other people from both HQ and Frontline as well as various functions such as Product, Sales & Marketing, Tech platforms, and many others.

  • Product management or product led growth

  • Digital/online growth, e.g., within performance marketing

  • Strategy and/or growth plan development
