Hello, this is Elijah, Betha, and Suraj and we are looking for our new Commercial Excellence Team Leader at Svitzer. As our leader, you will help us design and deliver the processes, tools, and best practices that fuel our customer centricity and revenue growth. As your direct reports, we span the globe being based in Australia, Copenhagen, and Mumbai, but you will be based in our office at Amaliegade with a beautiful view of the harbour and a cozy coffee shop called Kafferiet at our disposal in the Maersk campus.

Svitzer is a towage company, which means we help our customers maneuver their larger ships safely and timely in and out of port. You may have heard about the large container ship stuck in the Suez Canal – our Svitzer tugboats in the region played an active role in supporting the mission of freeing the large container ship from its dire straits and we helped unlock the gridlock that global trade was experiencing due to the incident. We look forward to sharing more about what we do and our important role in keeping the world supply of goods flowing.

We are a small team and operate in a lean and flat structure. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about our customers, and always brings our customers to every conversation. A great leader to us is willing to get their hands dirty, helps us prioritize and focus on the key projects that will enable our company’s strategic growth ambitions, and regularly provides feedback and coaching so we can grow too.

You will report directly to our global CCO and become part of the Svitzer Commercial Leadership team. Your peers and close co-workers are the regional CCOs and commercial managers. You will also have the pleasure of working with colleagues in the front-line business as well as our customers.

Key responsibilities

Here is what we impact: Service Delivery & Commercial Tech and Sales Excellence, both focused on continuously improving the understanding of our customers and translating those insights into ways of working. Together we take ownership and deliver:

Service Delivery & Tech:
• Order to cash end to end process, support tariff process and responsible for best practice replication globally
• Project manage global improvement initiatives across service delivery function (front line operators)
• Support the global roll-out of Svitzer’s new ERP system, serving as a functional senior user to ensure business critical decisions are made and for a successful adoption of our new ways of working
• Support compliance and audit processes & controls
• Optimize the use of our tools and systems to serve customer needs and prioritize improvement efforts.
• Identify tech requirements and implement any new system needed to improve overall commercial processes and customer experience. E.g., CRM adoption, Mail Chimp, Typeform, etc
• Svitzer.com co-owner
• Commercial systems owner

Sales Excellence:
• Owner of our customer satisfaction survey and follow up process.
• Ownership of our global sales performance and growth data reporting
• Ensure common approach to customer conversations - focus on identifying problems and testing solutions.
• Engage closely with the regional commercial managers to understand the challenges and opportunities, assist on key pursuit plans, and develop sales targets and tracking.
• Support and deliver any commercial training needs across the organization.
• Be the Voice of the Customer in Svitzer, continuously putting the Customer agenda at front of mind and collaborating across functions and geographies to create cohesive customer experience.

We are looking for


We can’t say this enough – we are looking for a leader with customer obsession, who can use data to drive execution discipline and commercial transformation within our organization.

This position is likely to suit somebody who has:
• You have 4+ years of relevant Commercial excellence experience, including experience leading a team.
• You possess extensive knowledge of sales principles and practices, and an ability to coach others on them.
• You have strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use data and metrics to inform recommendations and drive actions.
• You are greatly inspired by seeing the team succeed - helping the commercial team improve and close at higher rates!
• You are curious and inquisitive about commercial processes and how to make them better.
• Our working language is English – you must be fluent in written as well as verbally.

International travel can be required as the world and business requirements allow for it.
