Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology is offering a two-year post doc fellowship in Biomolecular NMR spectroscopy. The post doc fellowship is part of collaborative consortium BRAINSTRUC, funded by the Lundbeck Foundation, and the candidate will be closely affiliated with the Structural Biology and NMR Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science.

The fellowship is available from 15 October 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The overarching goal of BRAINSTRUC is to understand the molecular basis of selected brain functions and diseases through spatiotemporal structural models of complex biomolecular systems. The BRAINSTRUC consortium is focusing on two overall goals: 1) To develop improved methods for integrated structural biology data collection and data interpretation. 2) To investigate the structural aspects of selected systems that are central to neuronal signalling, inflammation and disease.

We seek a highly motivated and independent post doc with a skillset in solution state biomolecular NMR spectroscopy. The advertised research project aims at studying the interplay between disordered proteins or protein regions and membrane constituents or receptors and transporters using biomolecular solution state NMR spectroscopy.

Experience and expertise with intrinsically disordered proteins and/or membrane receptors and transporters will thus be an advantage. The project is a collaborative integrative structural biology project and you will be working is in the groups of Professor Birthe B. Kragelund (BIO) and Associate professor Annette Langkilde (DDP), both partners in the Brainstruc consortium.

Essential qualifications

  • You have obtained a PhD degree in biomolecular NMR spectroscopy or related areas prior to the starting date
  • You are highly experienced in biomolecular NMR spectroscopy
  • You have an active interest in intrinsically disordered proteins
  • Fluency in English and excellent communication skills

Desirable qualifications

  • Expression and purification of IDPs including a-Synuclein
  • Biophysical methods as ITC, MST, CD, SAXS
  • Membrane proteins, membrane mimetics
  • Nanocarrier systems for membrane proteins
  • Conformational dynamics by NMR including relaxation dispersion, CEST, DEST etc

Key criteria for the assessment of applicants

  • Professional qualifications relevant to the post doc project
  • Relevant work experience
  • Publications
  • Other professional activities
  • Language skills
  • The successful applicant is also required to be enterprising and to possess good interpersonal skills
