Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacy, and Environmental Medicine at the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark, is offering a new 5-year position as assistant professor in clinical pharmacy. The position is to be filled from May 1, 2021 or at the earliest possibility date thereafter.
The assistant professor will be part of the pharmacoepidemiological research group within our department. This group is led by professors Jesper Hallas and Anton Pottegård and comprise approx. 25 individuals that focus on registry-based research covering all aspect of drug use, effect, and safety. The group, however, collaborates extensively with the rest of the department, including both clinical and basic pharmacology research.
As part of this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operation of a regulator-mandated phase IV-study within the area of diabetes. This task is expected to take up roughly half of your time and includes working closely with both senior epidemiologists, other project managers in the team, data managers, international collaborators, and the marketing authorization holder. Responsibilities include day-to-day operations of the overall collaboration, ensuring transparency via registration of protocols etc. and finally writing up of annual and final reports and scientific publications.
As part of the pharmacoepidemiological research group, and as an assistant professor, you will be expected to develop and maintain an area of particular interest within pharmacoepidemiology within which you focus your efforts. Identifying this area and adapting it to your particular niche will be part of the position. You will be expected to have and maintain programming competencies yourself, at least to the level that allows for direct collaboration with your data manager colleagues. Further, drug utilization studies will be part of the portfolio.
The position includes teaching obligations related mainly to pharmacotherapy as well as supervision of bachelor projects and master projects. Additionally, we expect you to develop and offer an elective course (5 ECTS) relevant to the training of clinical pharmacists.
Fluent English (both written and spoken) is required. You will be involved in numerous projects across the department, also outside those outlined above. As such, you will be expected to have demonstrated portfolio management skills and to be able to maintain an overview and structure several concomitant projects.
You will be expected to have a background as a pharmacist and experience with working with registry data. You will be expected to have experience in applying for and obtaining access to new datasets. Finally, you will be required to have a PhD degree (preferably within epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology or similar research experience).
