Are you passionate about applying your knowledge and experience within drug discovery to co-develop next-generation biologic drugs and drive change for people living with chronic diseases? Then you could be the right person to lead our Recombinant Drug Discovery 2 department. The position As Head of Recombinant Drug Discovery 2, you will, in close collaboration with the Head of Recombinant Drug Discovery 1, set direction for the two departments, which together play a key role for our project pipeline by leveraging proprietary antibody technology and biotherapeutic engineering platforms, and by working with external partners.Your main responsibilities will focus on: Ensure seamless collaboration with sister department to deliver on shared responsibilities and execute overall department strategies Lead a team of highly experienced scientists and technicians, who work enthusiastically on advancing our established projects and on generating new innovative project and technology ideas Develop team members and ensure an inspiring and motivating working environment with a focus on individual empowerment and responsibility for defined areas Ensure and lead the implementation of state-of-the-art expertise and technical capabilities in the field of antibody/biologics discovery, including through continued or identification of new external collaboration partners Facilitate team participation in project innovation work, including providing input to new internal project proposals and evaluating external opportunities As a member of the Recombinant Drug Discovery Leadership Team, actively engage in cross-functional collaboration and input on technology strategy and operational improvements Collaborate across the organization with therapy, technology, and computational areas on the entire workflow, from in silico design to variant generation and functional/biophysical screening, to ensure smooth execution of work and integration of data Resource allocations for projects and department budgets Represent the department and give presentation of relevant biologic discovery know-how in internal committees as well as engaging externally for scientific global networking You will use your collaboration skills, leadership experience and solid scientific background to guide the team and engage in cross-organizational collaborations to ensure optimal impact in the early-stage project portfolio. You will work closely with other leaders to establish an overview of activities and engagement in the project matrix organization, and to ensure resources and guide team members according to project priorities and criticality.Qualifications To thrive and succeed in the role, you should have: Documented leadership experience from leading and developing a team of scientists and technicians with a focus on motivating continuous people development Ph.D. in natural sciences or life sciences with at least 5 years of experience in biologic drug design and discovery, preferably from the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry Proactive, creative and visible leadership style and the ability to set a clear direction in a complex environment The ability to build a curiosity-driven innovation culture while driving business strategies with a focus on fit-for-purpose deliverables Experience in working with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders at different levels As a person, you: Are a team player who displays excellent collaboration and communication skills across all organizational levels, functions, and cultures Are committed to creating winning teams with focus on an environment of trust and continuous people development Thrive working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment About the department Together with Recombinant Drug Discovery 1, the Recombinant Drug Discovery 2 department discover and optimize assay- and therapeutic antibodies, antibody domain modalities and other biologic formats for projects across the Novo Nordisk therapy areas. The departments utilize state of the art technologies such as yeast surface display, hybridoma, microfluidics and single cell technologies. High-throughput processes are an integral part of our daily work and a key element in both cell culturing and screening workflows. We work in a flexible, highly collaborative, and cross-functional setting with a continuous focus on development of innovative technologies and personal competences. RDD 1 and 2 are parts of Recombinant Drug Discovery (RDD), an area that provides key contributions to building a rich pipeline, by leveraging unique advantages of our biotherapeutic engineering technology platforms both internally and via external licenses and collaborations.RDD is a part of Recombinant Drug Research (RDR), where we collaborate across the full research value chain to discover and advance innovative recombinant protein and peptide therapeutic candidates.
