Join our team as Head of the LabDroid department.The position As Head of LabDroid, you will lead an engaged team of scientists, laboratory technicians and specialists within automation and IT, each contributing to a diverse team with their unique set of competences, to operate our new large laboratory automation platform. You will collaborate closely with many stakeholders across the research organisation, and you will be part of the Recombinant Drug Discovery leadership team. Your main responsibilities will include: Lead the department, currently consisting of 10 employees, and nurture a strong collaborative spirit where we value each other’s opinions and competences Oversee operation and further enable the LabDroid automation platform Collaborate with Global Drug Discovery and Digital Science & Innovation teams to further enable innovative laboratory automation for generation and characterization of future drug candidates Engage with stakeholders across the Research & Early Development organization to develop and execute the strategy for further implementation of automated project workflows on the platform Work closely with Digital, Science & Innovation partners to drive development of IT systems to support the automation platform Qualifications To thrive and succeed, you should have: A degree within life sciences, chemical engineering, or a related field, preferentially with a PhD Proven excellent leadership and people skills with a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing successful teams within research and drug discovery A keen interest in laboratory automation. Hands-on experience is a clear advantage, but not a prerequisite A solid understanding of drug discovery processes Excellent stakeholder management with strong communication skills As a person, you are innovative and ambitious, collaboration-oriented, and a good team player with high personal integrity. You can bridge the gap between scientific and technical disciplines, take ownership for your tasks, and are a good motivator.About the department The LabDroid department operates large-scale, fully automated platforms for discovery and optimization of biotherapeutic molecules for Novo Nordisk research pipeline. The LabDroid platform is a modular setup with a range of integrated work cells collectively reflecting the multi-technology disciplines of drug discovery. The platform has high potential, and the department has a constant focus on implementing innovative fully automated workflows for advanced drug discovery applications. The department is one of three departments within Recombinant Drug Discovery (RDD) dedicated to building a rich pipeline of biotherapeutic molecules and leveraging unique advantages of our engineering technology platforms. RDD is a part of Recombinant Drug Research (RDR), where we collaborate across the full research value chain to discover and advance innovative recombinant protein and peptide therapeutic candidates. RDR maintains a vibrant scientific culture and seamlessly connects broad competences across multidisciplinary teams that are motivated by revolutionising development of innovative therapies to treat a wide range of serious chronic diseases.Working at Novo Nordisk At Novo Nordisk, we don’t wait for change.
