We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc or assistant professor for a three-year position to commence 1 January 2024 or after agreement.

The position is part of the highly collaborative Research and Innovation Action “Therapies for Renal Ciliopathies (TheRaCil)”, supported by the EU union (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101080717).

Our research
The interest of the research group is molecular and genetic mechanisms of embryonic development and birth defects. We are using a multidisciplinary approach, where we combine genetic and genomic investigations of patients, with functional investigations based on embryonic tissues, cell models and zebrafish. Our ambition is to perform research on the highest level and publish in high-quality international journals. We have a very inclusive working environment and a large network of national and international collaborators.

More information about our research can be found at: https://icmm.ku.dk/english/research-groups/la-larsen-group/.

Your job
Your job will focus on functional characterization of genes involved in rare inherited kidney disorders (renal ciliopathies). The research is part TheRaCil, a large international, interdisciplinary and highly collaborative project, aimed at improving diagnosis, prognosis and therapy of pediatric renal ciliopathy patients.

The functional characterization of genes should be performed using zebrafish. Consequently, the project will include CRISPR-cas9 based methods for gene targeting in zebrafish and phenotypic characterization of the zebrafish pronephros. Thus, documented expertise in zebrafish developmental biology is necessary.

Candidates without documented hands-on experience with zebrafish research will not be considered for the position.

The postdocs’ responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • research, including publication/academic dissemination duties.
  • limited research-based teaching.

The assistant professors’ responsibilities will primarily consist of:
