The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense invites applications for positions in health informatics and technology, at the levels of associate professor and assistant professor with a starting date in the second quarter of 2020.

SDU Health Informatics and Technology (HIT) strive to develop novel and ready to deploy technical solutions in a transdisciplinary manner. SDU HIT has a large portfolio of transdisciplinary projects involving numerous partners from healthcare, academia, industry and network organizations.

SDU HIT possess various competences including embedded systems, participatory design, acoustics, innovation management, software engineering, and data analytics. These competences are currently being deployed in areas such as training robots, audiology, telemedicine/eHealth/mHealth, clinical decision support, and healthcare ecosystem modeling.

We are seeking candidates that can strengthen (and augment) the ongoing research and build bridges between the groups’ two complementary and tightly connected areas: health technology and health informatics.

Candidates are required to have a proven research record within health informatics and technology related to at least one of the following fields:
  • Assistive technology (embedded systems; robotics; sensors; cyber-physical systems)
  • Data science (health data and medical image analysis)
  • Software engineering (healthcare IT systems, standards, ontologies, and platforms)
  • Health informatics (user-driven or participatory design, technology and/or strategy implementation and evaluation)

Commensurate with the seniority of the position applied for, the candidates must have:
  • A strong research and publication record
  • Extensive collaboration experience with industry and/or the healthcare sector.
  • Experience with attracting research funding

All candidates must have a PhD in a relevant discipline.

The successful candidates are expected to develop and engage in a vigorous research program, collaborate with other faculty units on joint research projects, and actively participate in attracting external research funding in close collaboration with colleagues and management.

The successful applicants will be expected to provide outstanding education, supervise students and, depending on level, develop junior staff and faculty units.

The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute is an internationally recognized research department with strong research units in robotics, drones, artificial intelligence, software engineering, energy informatics, and health informatics and technology.

Requirements for the position
Employment for the positions requires scientific qualifications at PhD level in a relevant discipline.

Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.

Shortlisting may be used. Shortlisted applicants will be assessed by an assessment panel.

An interview might be part of the assessment process.

Conditions of employment
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

Employment as an associate professor is a permanent position.

Employment as an assistant professor is a 3-year temporary position. The employment will cease without further notice at the end of the period.
