The Vice President is responsible for forecasting, insight generation and business cases within Commercial Strategy and Corporate Affairs (CSCA) in Novo Nordisk. This involves interaction with key brands, affiliates, regions, and senior management in support of decision-making and strategy development at brand, portfolio, and corporate level. This requires a high level of innovation to investigate new analyses, draw conclusions, and highlight insights, as well as to improve on-going processes and systems. In addition, it will be expected that you take a high level of initiative to proactively communicate to stakeholders and gain buy-in to forecasts, analyses, and projects. The Vice President will report to the Corporate Vice President, Portfolio Strategy and lead a team of more than twenty employees globally. The position is based in Soborg, Denmark. Key Responsibilities Drive global portfolio forecasts and business cases to facilitate strategic decision-making for Executive Management, CSCA management, sales regions, R&D management, and Product Supply Management
  • Guide long-term commercial investment decisions and strategies globally, based on the Long-Term Forecast (LTF) 10-year sales outlook
  • Establish a robust short- and mid-term forecasting process for key products and geographies, to inform global business cases, investment and launch planning, and product allocation in the company
  • Enable Novo Nordisk pipeline product/project valuations, through the development of demand forecasts and collaboration with other units in Commercial Strategy & Corporate Affairs
  • Enable capacity and production investment decision-making by the Investment Portfolio Committee (IPG), through development of volume forecast for all key products
  • Inform and enable resource allocation decisions based on patient and economic-potential forecasting
  • Lead strategic projects in partnership with key stakeholders
  • Lead and participate in key cross-functional projects within CS&CA, Operations and other parts of Novo Nordisk
  • Proactively foster ongoing collaboration with brand teams, affiliates, and regions
  • Proactively foster integration of key insights in strategic planning work
  • Communicate market insights to broad audiences within Novo Nordisk
  • Drive brand and affiliate performance management process
  • Develop, broaden, and maintain a performance monitoring and reporting framework (reports and online dashboards covering in-market performance, promotional performance, patient performance) based on an array of available data sources
  • Engage with Core Commercialisation Teams (CCTs) and Early Commercial Teams (ECTs), to review brand performance and outlook and market situation to guide on strategy development
  • Assist in driving the “Situational Analysis process” to analyse market and customer challenges and establish a sound foundation for creation of evidence-based commercial strategies
  • Managing, shaping & developing the Insights and Forecasting team
  • Ensuring team performance, motivation & continuous contribution to CSCA and Novo Nordisk vision
  • Facilitating employee development, in alignment with organisational goals
  • Develop future leaders in Novo Nordisk by attracting strong candidates to Novo Nordisk and provide excellent foundation for personal development for top-performers
  • Ensuring a good collaboration and clear roles and responsibilities within an international/virtual team between colleagues in Denmark and colleagues in Bangalore
  • Qualifications
    To thrive and succeed in this role, we expect you to have:
  • Master’s degree in business, finance, engineering, natural sciences or similar
  • 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or as a consultant
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience
  • Strong analytical and numerical capabilities
  • Experience in leading teams and projects cross-functionally in a matrix organisation or Business Unit, skilled in gaining buy-in and support
  • Strong corporate compass and cross-functional leadership skills, including an ability to navigate across boundaries, build relationships and trust, securing commitment from stakeholders, and driving tangible results
  • Strong personal skills in setting high standards and get things done in a collaborative way and with a fast pace
  • Strong people management skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
