Power Solutions Plant & Hybrid Solutions Product Design & Architecture

In Product Design & Architecture, we lead the definition of standardised and modular product families configurable to customer needs. Additionally, we set the product requirements to future Plant & Hybrid products and lead the technical execution of product development projects through cross functional teams.

Responsibilities
As Specialist you will join an interdisciplinary team that has the technical responsibility for specification and conceptual design of a modular plant architecture. You will interact with Product Management in analysing the markets needs and customer demands in a global marketplace. You will work with modules and component designers defining standardized interfaces and size ranges which allow the configuration of versatile product families addressing differentiated market needs. And you will engage with all parts of the value chain to ensure that the product families can economically be managed throughout the entire lifecycle.

To highlight your most important work areas:

  • Analyse and validate market requirements, value chain expectations and translate them into design requirements for the different modules
  • Lead feasibility studies to define product concepts that are optimised towards these requirements
  • Identify and optimise the constituting criteria, commonalities and critical interface dependencies between modules
  • Define the optimum number and size range of component variants for delivering the basic products and the options to comply to local requirements
  • Ensure necessary product level documentation e.g. general sales specifications, ConOps, requirement specifications, Product Family Master Plan and design descriptions are in place

Qualifications

  • You hold a M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or Physics
  • You have a thorough understanding of fundamental industrial machinery and component disciplines and the interactions of mechatronics systems and their control loops
  • You bring in several years of experience with systems engineering. It will be an advantage to be at least an Associate Systems Engineer (e.g. INCOSE ASEP)
  • You have proven your skills with product modularisation in a larger organisation dealing with complex industrial products
  • You master basic engineering processes like requirements management, FMEA and risk analysis
  • You have already gathered experience with methods like QFD or HoQ for focusing your development projects on customer needs
  • You possess excellent communication skills, and are fluent in English, written and spoken

Additional information
Primary work location: Vestas Technology HQ, Aarhus, Denmark. As you have colleagues at different locations abroad you must expect up to approx. 30 days of travel a year.
