As Scientific Product Owner you will be an individual contributor responsible for leading a product team focused on targets discovery to support our Targets and Translational Cluster. You will develop analysis ready data products for target discovery, validation, and translation, using data pipelines and databases to speed up discovery in therapeutic areas that include diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular, and rare diseases. You will support various data producers and consumers, enhance data access for scientists, and provide solutions using preferred tools, collaborating with other experts to address significant needs, including data visualization and global data management.
You will be responsible for the vision and delivery of data products by working in an agile framework with colleagues from R&ED, DSI and our IT organization. You will be responsible for creating a high performing group of colleagues that work collaboratively together. Ideally, you will have a record of successful delivery of data solutions from initial vision and minimal viable product through to mature, analysis ready data products.
You will report to the Senior Director, Data and Analytics Engineering, Targets and Translational. Internal partners include therapeutic area scientists, computational biologists, data and software engineers, software developers, platform and compute engineers in R&ED and IT. External relationships include relationships with commercial and academic collaboration partners. Your primary focus will be to: Contribute to the data product vision and definition of business context. Have knowledge on business impact and understanding in complex and highly critical scientific solutions for the digitalization of research data. Ensure active engagement of scientific stakeholders and align with the business capability leader for the Targets and Translational cluster. Create and maintain product team backlog. Prioritize the backlog according to business value and alignment with product strategy/roadmap objectives. Use Agile product development techniques to validate fit for purpose and contribute to Agile team events. Ensure stories are delivered according to agreements and hold the team accountable for on-time delivery. Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have: PhD or equivalent in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Computer Engineering required or a BSc/MSc and 5+ years’ experience in life sciences, medical device or pharmaceutical industry. Knowledge of pharmaceutical research and target discovery areas and broad expertise spanning data and digital, including the ability to perform hands on technical work. Technical knowledge of cloud computing, data engineering, and DevOps. Excellent communication skills at bench scientist/end-user level and with middle management. Resolute and able to negotiate complex expectations with structured approach. Member of technical projects that require ability to influence, collaborate and lead cross-functional teams with multiple moving parts. Demonstrated ability to generate valuable and relevant ideas, create concepts and solutions based on prioritized ideas and solutions. Ability to thrive amidst ambiguity and discern the unexpressed problems and derived requirements for digital solutions in a complex global organization preferred. Domain knowledge in high-content screening and cell assays preferred. About the Department:
