About Development and the area of Development Digital Transformation Our Development Digital Transformation is an organisation within Development and headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. Development is headed by an Executive VP and has +5000 employees globally in 8 areas: Development Digital Transformation Development Sustainable Business Development Transformation & Insights Clinical Drug Development Data Science Submissions & Life Cycle Management Devices and Delivery Solutions and Global Medical Affairs Entering new therapeutical areas results in an unprecedented number of trials and trial participants. To be successful, we have been scaling development activities with new digital capabilities, talented people, business agility and innovation. By leveraging digitalisation, we unlock the power of data to drive insights and transform treatment solutions for our patients. The position As Vice President Asset Enhancement of Digital Transformation in Development, you will directly report to the Corporate Vice President Digital Transformation, Stephanie Bova. You will lead a team of 2-3 direct reports and will be part of an organisation of 36 employees that will define the digitalisation agenda and drive its execution across all areas in Development. Since the Vice President Asset Enhancement is a new function with the overall objective to optimize the innovation and value of digital solutions within and between projects in Development as well as facilitate optimal use of digital solutions across the Novo Nordisk value chain from Research & Early Development to Commercial, this role is all about innovation and change in a complex stakeholder landscape. The outcome and solutions that will come from the department may be transformational in the way we operate and will have significant impact on the value, quality, efficiency for Development activities as well as for the broader organisation across EVP areas. Location The position can be based in Denmark, Europe, or US East Coast and will require time to be spent at our Development HQ in Denmark. The role is performed in collaboration with stakeholders across the Novo Nordisk Organisation as well as external partners., The imprint of the work performed will be global, and global perspective, interaction and coverage involving both internal and external stakeholders are required. There will be direct project work with colleagues across multiple geographies with travel being no more than 30%. Requires a deep understanding of key markets and how digital is used at a country and end user level. Key responsibilities The VP of Asset Enhancement is accountable for the strategy/roadmap of Development Digital solutions by leading an end-to-end value chain review of key assets/TAs, digital solution portfolio, budget, key programs, and platforms covering the entire portfolio. Novo Nordisk uses a 5D strategy that looks at opportunities that tie together Drug, Device, Data, Diagnosis and Digital and the VP of Asset Enhancement is accountable for establishing and leading a new digital function operating across all GPTs (Global Project teams) to create maximum value and consolidated insight on the use of digital solutions across the drug development portfolio, ultimately supporting the overall NN strategy and Development Aspirations. Leads a Digital Program Team (DPT) of cross-functional experts - Digital Leads. Ensures optimal engagement of digital services, partners, and platforms aligned across key functions. As a member of the Digital Transformation Office (DTO) Leadership Team, bring innovative digital solutions to Development and ensure strategic and operational alignment of overall digital ecosystem efforts. This role is responsible for one-third of a top-level strategic imperative for the division anticipated to have an impact of $1B+ over a five-year horizon, and central to the shift to being a medicines and technology company. Main role tasks Lead the creation, maintenance and execution of a multi-year strategy and roadmap for the Digital priority area to achieve Development strategy targets. Define the vision, overall strategy, and operational roadmap implementation to achieve the Digital priority area targets by running an end-to-end use case identification and prioritization process. Interact with management boards to secure internal alignment of vision and strategy. Anticipate and respond to internal and external drivers of changes to strategy. Shape the internal and external environment with thought-leadership, relationship management, and strategic partnering. Develop and maintain communication strategy for internal and external communications and investor relations around the priority area. Oversee and ensure the design integrity of the overall business, process and, in partnership with IT, the technology architecture across all initiatives in the priority area. Organize and lead high performing multi-disciplinary teams to achieve superior results in a motivating work environment. Jointly with the Line of Business, SVP areas, and Therapeutic Areas, align on staffing and appoint DTO and project team members. Set goals, actively coach, and provide performance feedback for the functional reports on the DTO in close partnership with the line-functions. Identify, resolve, and escalate resource issues. Plays a critical role in building and role modelling a digital organisation that attracts, retains, and develops curious, bright people who want to team up to achieve great outcomes together. Drive cross-divisional and cross-functional project portfolio and budget operations to achieve superior performance. Drive and steer the implementation of the strategy in close collaboration with the SVP areas and Therapeutic areas, and other divisions within agreed timelines, budgets, and resources at the required quality level. Conduct strategic analysis of the digital portfolio and budget performance to ensure alignment to the strategy and make recommendations to appropriate management boards to ensure optimal performance. Provide strategic leadership to high-priority initiatives within the Digital priority area, particularly those linked to governance. Lead the creation, scale-up and management of novel digital platforms to serve Development’s long-term digital ambition. Point of contact for Digital BD&L to support business development activities. Source external market/ideas by scanning competitor landscape and emerging technologies to identify opportunities and potential partnerships for Development. Establish and advance a cross-functional digital community to build connectivity, capability, share successes and lessons learned. Knowledge, skills, and Experience MBA/PhD/MS in scientific, business or engineering discipline. 8-10 years of drug development experience across end-to-end process of drug development required. 8-10 years of technology experience in all stages of technology program lifecycle (concept/early stage through scale up/late stage) required. Experience leading the development and/or implementation of digital products required. Deep knowledge of digital market analysis /evaluation techniques and competitive intelligence required. Deep understanding of key markets such as US, Europe, and Asia. Consulting experience highly desired. Access to and familiarity with external digital innovation ecosystem/Health Authority preferred. Effective communication and stakeholder management (internal and external) skills, and ability to create and drive a cross-functional strategy within digitalisation in a diplomatic and assertive way. In addition, you are excellent in getting followship from your team and demanding stakeholders, and you have developed a strong business acumen that makes you excellent in working with senior management. As a person you are innovative and curious, and you are a mindful leader that is known for your ability to inspire and create buy-in and followship. In addition, you are known to drive performance and deliver quick wins.
