This is a great opportunity to join and lead our growing team of Data Engineers, Data Science & BI Developers and Machine Learning Engineers. Our team is responsible for the development and operations of TrackMan’s Data Platform, which runs both our analytics and BI solutions as well as backend data systems for our many of our products. Our team is also responsible for cutting edge solutions that leverage deep learning, classical machine learning and advanced algorithms to deliver product features and address operational challenges. In collaboration with our market leading radar and computer vision based tracking technology, we are building products used by some of the best athletes in the world.
The Data Engineering department reports to the SVP of R&D Software, Peter Bukhave Hansen, and is one of the key leadership positions in the company. Along with Golf Applications and Team Sports Applications, the person drives the overall software solution architecture stack for TrackMan. Through the Machine Learning and AI work in particular, the person also collaborates deeply with the Tracking department to bring advanced data driven features into TrackMan products.
The R&D Data Engineering department consists today of 9 full time employees who broadly operate in 2 groups:

Your profile
You have experience building and leading teams of skilled technology workers to deliver great products. You have a technology background with real hands-on experience in a data related field, enabling you to make thoughtful architectural decisions and ensuring you can build credibility with your team. You have experience as a people leader, driving high performance while guiding the careers of your team and mentoring their development. You are comfortable moving up and down the organization, interfacing and negotiating with executives and product development as well as peer technology departments and your developers.

- Data Engineering & DevOps, Machine Learning & AI (4 people)
- Data Science, Data Modelling & Business Intelligent (5 people)
There are currently also 2 student workers in the team.
Example solutions our team are developing:
- Operational dashboards for our growing portfolio of Indoor Golf and Range customers
- Data Quality and analysis reporting for our peer R&D departments and customer support functions
- Product usage and user insights for our Business Development and Strategy functions
- Identifying athletes in real time using a combination of video and associated meta data inputs
- Tracking player movement on the field of play
Your profile
You have experience building and leading teams of skilled technology workers to deliver great products. You have a technology background with real hands-on experience in a data related field, enabling you to make thoughtful architectural decisions and ensuring you can build credibility with your team. You have experience as a people leader, driving high performance while guiding the careers of your team and mentoring their development. You are comfortable moving up and down the organization, interfacing and negotiating with executives and product development as well as peer technology departments and your developers.
Responsibilities
- Determine and drive the overall strategic and technological direction of the department
- Provide feedback on roadmaps and resource plans to project management functions
- Develop and own department processes and workflows, drive efficiency and productivity
- Collaborate deeply with business development, participate in executive steering forums
- Support team in day-to-day development work, agile/scrum forums, support priority decisions
- Identify need for new employees and own the recruitment process
- Provide career management and mentorship to developers, conduct yearly goal setting
- Create leadership opportunities in the team, appoint responsibilities and support growth
- Negotiate salary and promotions, manage department expenses, vacation planning etc
