Senior Software Engineer

Opportunity

Maersk is strengthening its software development organization, focusing on driving predictability, reducing cost of ownership and increasing agility in our technology. We are looking for a full stack developer with strong development skills, experience working in Agile projects and leadership to help shape development within Maersk Technology. We expect applicant to have minimum of 3-5 years working experience within backend-, API-, database- and preferably Java development within Agile project delivery addressing CI/CD and a full DevOps operating model including 24x7 support.

The role will involve:

• Hands-on architecture, development, & maintenance. You will adapt in writing reusable code, adhere to test driven development i.e. unit & integration tests across all components with code re-use being key to success.

• Build and deployment of artefacts on Cloud or on-premise servers using CI/CD pipeline and DevOps principles/practices.

• Collaboration across teams with other front-end developers, back end developers, architects, designers, UX experts, external agencies, partners and key people in the business with focus on delivering business value.

• Help define efficient solutions and implementation strategies in joint collaboration with your team to create highly cohesive front-end and back-end development practices.

• Embrace emerging technologies and solutions to ensure our online experience continually evolves to deliver functionality that our customers need.

• Travelling as needed to Maersk locations to meet and work with development team members based abroad (e.g. Denmark).

• You are expected to carry out a full DevOps 24x7 support with the rest of the team on cloud-based products (mainly PaaS)

• You will should be able to guide a typical aglie team of highly skilled engineers including working with different roles in the elaboration and definition of user stories as part of feature development, code reviews, production releases.

Minimum qualifications:

• Strong Computer Science and development fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis.

• Sound knowledge and experience with at least one modern programming language such as Java, C#, Python

• Experience with developing RESTful microservices with Spring boot.

• Sound understanding of Spring modules and ORM tools.

• Experience working on low latency, highly scalable, multi-tiered applications.

• Experience working with databases – Relational and non-relational databases.

• 5 years of software development using modern Agile frameworks

Desired qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with build tools like Maven, npm etc.

• Hands-on experience of using a front-end development framework, such as Angular, React or Vue.

• Hands-on experience working with Cloud technologies or a keen interest in learning the same.

• Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)

• Proven knowledge of Test Driven Development (TDD).

• Hands-on experience with source code controlling software such as GIT.
