About the department
You will join a new department with a few but highly skilled and engaged people characterised by a high level of innovation and entrepreneurship driven by fast development in the field of data science and the organization’s priority of this area.
The department is expected to have a significant strategic and cross-organizational impact on the business. We explore and engage in development novel data scientific methods to generate disease insights and support trial development programs and early research, by using all available data-sources such as randomised clinical trial data, global observational cohorts from claim databases or national registries as well as social media data.
In addition to our internal activities we work with acknowledged academic partners to explore new methodologies and ways of leveraging data. The department is an independent unit within RWD&Science which consists of around 30 highly skilled, professional and engaged people with backgrounds within epidemiology, biostatistics, data science and medicine.
RWD&Science is part of Global Development in R&D. Global Development is leading and managing clinical drug development programmes worldwide from early development phases to market approval and early life cycle management.
The Position
As Senior or Principal Data Scientist you will be working in close collaboration with many different parts of our organization. You will be accountable for identifying and applying methods of analyzing existing data to generate knowledge and new insights, subsequently sharing the new insights with internal and external stakeholders.
As Principal Data Scientist you will be expected to engage with internal and external senior stakeholders and nurture collaboration with Academic Institutions and other external parties. You will also be responsible for identifying relevant external partners and collaborations as well as support the existing collaborations.
Furthermore, you will:
- Take the role as leading project expert in cross functional settings internally and externally.
- Have a large influence on setting strategic and project-related directions for - and drive development of - methods collaboration and outreach in the organisation
- Deliver scientific presentations within own field of expertise at a high organisational level
- Proactively drive knowledge sharing including supervising, and mentor less senior colleagues
Qualification
You hold a relevant master’s or PhD and have extensive experience in the life sciences area, working with analytical projects and analyzing complex and comprehensive data.
You have experience with at least one statistical analytical software program such as SAS or R or other advanced statistical methods. It is expected that you have hands on experience developing and applying AI/advanced analytics.
It is expected that you are scientifically familiar with one or more disease areas of interest to Novo Nordisk e.g. diabetes, cardiovascular disease or obesity.
As a person you are driven, have an entrepreneurial mindset, and are a good communicator. You are ambitious, highly innovative, you challenge existing methods and seek new ways, while showing integrity and have a structured analytical approach to project development and problem-solving.
