Maersk Growth is a CVC and the external innovation arm of A.P. Moller – Maersk. We invest in and partner with startups to digitize, democratize and decarbonize logistics. As a Senior Portfolio Manager, you will join Sarah’s team. Sarah is our Operating Partner and basically responsible for everything post investment. The stuff before is handled by our awesome investment team.
You’ll be the pivotal point between our start-ups and Maersk, helping our portfolio push forward on their growth trajectory, while driving strategic value for Maersk.
You’ll:
- Own portfolio management end-to-end for a group of our start-ups, driving value for them through customer introductions (we have 70,000 customers…), best practice sharing on e.g. how to enter Vietnam or running joint pilots - and value for us through key insights from the external ecosystem on e.g. new technologies or business models
- Use your project management and people skills to drive selected strategic projects with high engagement, liaising directly with senior start-up and internal stakeholders. This could be a commercial pilot with a selection of our key clients – think Adidas or Unilever. We love our customers and think they are pretty cool!
- Have a key role in formulating our strategic investment case by liaising with our colleagues in Maersk and presenting these during our deal-flow meetings, where we make all our investment decisions. In other words, you’ll have a key role in terms of determining the future composition of our portfolio. Did we mention we just started our Fund II..
- Build effective and mutually beneficial relationships with identified key stakeholders in our core business driving high levels of engagement and joint value creation
- Support our strategic insights team with key insights from your engagement with our founders and the ecosystem

We believe you’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Have project management drive and discipline which is second to none
- Have a strong track record in a commercial, strategy or customer service role with Maersk (ok we are biased). In other words – you are not afraid to get your hands dirty and dive in – in fact you like to! A strong internal network, business acumen and the ability to speak Maersk is definitely a plus
- Have a can-do attitude and drive which is second to none. You are known for taking strong ownership and going the extra mile.
- Have a genuine passion for and interest in the start-up and investment ecosystem. If you have had your own business, worked with a start-up or have VC experience, well then double-yay!
- Love a good challenge and handle ambiguity with a smile
- Are well versed in PowerPoint and Excel
- Have impeccable stakeholder management skills – you are great at building rapport and can work across all levels
- Are often described as someone who has high energy and is loved for that by your colleagues!
