Being part of a fast-growing, dynamic, and impactful team, you, as Lead Industrial Engineer, will be entrusted with the unique opportunity to provide and develop automation solutions that meet the needs of the business and works well within the overall automation technology landscape. You draw from a deep and broad technical expertise to mentor process engineers, complete hands-on functional and technical work, and provide technical, operational, and process leadership on complex automation technology issues in the company. While deploying your solid skills in automation engineering, product design, and product deployment/delivery, you focus on building and nurturing global cross-functional relationships and making a difference on a local, regional, and global level.

Key responsibilities

• Responsible for providing technology leadership to the team to ensure automation solutions and services get built based on defined specifications, warehouse operations requirements, and automation industry best practices in a timely manner.
• Contributes to or has responsibility for technical project management on technologically complex projects (including new build products and retrofit/modifications) which could involve multiple disciplines, business units or suppliers.
• Has management experience in an Automated Warehouse Environment or direct knowledge of automation implementation from a manual environment.
• Leads projects or parts of projects/automation solutions and services within one or more technical discipline
• Has accountability for the project plan, scope, cost, work schedule, design and build, and contractual deliverables for own automation workstream of a project/solution within an area of expertise or for a full project
• Leads the implementation within projects or own team of the lean way of working (WoW), processes & systems to manage workstreams that drive automation platform development.
• Executes complex or specialized projects, conducts design analysis on logistics solutions, components, and/or assemblies to assist in the development process by ensuring designs are cost-efficient, manufacturable, and reliable
• Drives engagement and performance within multiple projects
• Contributes to day-to-day improvements in own area of expertise
• Drive compliance & adherence to processes amongst the staff.
• Work with partners, product owners, scrum masters, and the scrum team do release and sprint planning and provide team commitments accordingly
• Engages in dialogue with internal and external customers in order to ensure the right project/automation solution focus in close collaboration with Maersk WnD/WDP Business Product Owners and Functional Product Owners.
• Has responsibility for automation solution/product design for automation projects and tenders including providing total costing
• Acts as the single point of contact for assigned projects, and automated solutions, coordinating engineering teams and external parties (integrators and systems suppliers) to assure automation solution integration and project completion within targets
• Leads delivery of new products and product deployment through management and coordination of internal resources and enforcement of automation requirements/standards and supplier/vendor service level agreements
• Leverages comprehensive understanding of how own discipline/automation integrates with other disciplines
• Develops global standards and guidelines for operations processes, warehouse design, and automation solutions for all types of warehouse taking into account the automation industry best practices
• Provides knowledge and ideas for the development of solutions to complex problems or projects
• Provides technical leadership and assists in training less experienced engineers
• Work with the team to publish research and represent Maersk at top-notch professional venues.

We are looking for

• A total of 10+ years of industrial automation industry experience with 5+ years of experience in architecting and/or developing and delivering end-to-end products/solutions for transform and logistics with a focus on automation in warehouse and distribution.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in managing cross-functional teams with a successful record of building relationships at the global, regional, and local level
• Expertise in providing operationally critical technology services on the industrial automation solution side.
• Experience in industrial process design, automation requirements for complex installations, automated equipment, Execution Systems, and Equipment Control Systems
• Experience in design, building, and integration of solutions that can be horizontally scalable, distributed, resilient, fault-tolerant, and monitored
• Expertise in the modern logistics process, automation technology instrumentation, and controls; operation data acquisition and safety systems; automation integration and automation control/execution systems
• Good understanding of operation/functional KPI’s hereunder performance of equipment under circumstances of industrial environments
• The ability to continually identify solutions improvements (retrospective analysis, maturity assessments, and OKR’s
and KPIs) and proactively manage the process and performance and act on stakeholder feedback.
• An understanding of the trade-off between technical investments and continual delivery of business outcome
• The ability to provide direction, support, and guidance for others hereunder mentor, manage the code-review process and contribute to product development and system integration development
• Independently lead automated solution design, resource planning, and estimation of technology costs and interdependencies
• Understanding automation industry trends and relevant innovations in solution delivery methods (agile, waterfall)
• Excellent communication and cross-functional cooperation capabilities – a team player with positive Can-Do, result-oriented attitude
• Experience with Information Security management - Maintain the data confidentiality & integrity and relevant compliance of information systems.
• Understand product lifecycle implementation of OT/Automation architecture solutions and associated industry (IT/OT) industrial automation standards (ISA95, ISA99…)
