The position
The main task of Scientific Developer is to develop our software platform for process chromatography and implement maintainable solutions in a systematic way. The work involves programming related to model building, simulation, and automatised workflows, that include data handling and model parameter estimation. Together with development labs we also test new mechanisms for adsorption and mass transfer as well as physio-chemical property models related to solubility and aggregation of proteins.
As part of the scientific software development group, you will be:
• developing a flexible and maintainable chromatography modelling platform
• documenting the software and present it to users at different levels
• applying advanced numerical methods to solve ODE and PDE systems
• exploring efficient algorithms and strategies for parameter fitting of complex non-linear systems
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has a master’s degree or PhD in process engineering with advanced programming skills and have worked with mechanistic modelling of complex systems. Preferably, have an experience with creating software, including visualization elements, and have a keen interest in enabling 21st century digital workflow.
Apart from that, you are able to:
• understand mathematical models based on differential equations and apply them using simulation
• program in Python, C++, Matlab, Fortran, Julia (descending priority)
• define good application programming interfaces and, leverage HTTP and interface with existing microservices
• use revision control (Git) and learn continuous integration / deployment
• generate an overview of an assignment and break it down into manageable pieces
• present complex results in a clear way and explain the purpose to get everyone onboard
About the department
The job is placed in CMC Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Development, Research &Development, located in Bagsværd, Denmark. Our main responsibility is to develop manufacturing processes for new proteins and peptides in close collaboration with the research and manufacturing units. You will be part of a group dedicated to building software for model-based process development and assist in deploying and expanding our software platform in the Upstream & Downstream departments. We have a very integrated collaboration environment where software -and process developers together create relevant solutions to relevant problems.
