About the department The department, “Global Project Management”, manages the research and early development project portfolio across all therapeutic areas and technological modalities (proteins, peptides, antibodies, siRNA, affibodies, small molecules) in Novo Nordisk. We are a team of 12 colleagues based in Måløv, Denmark. As a team, we all have extensive experience from the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. We develop project strategies and plans for our portfolio of research and early development projects by employing best practice within project management and working closely with stakeholders across the global Novo Nordisk organisation. A strong eye on the evolving digital and human centric options which we have for identifying targets and developing new drugs is an increasing element in leading projects in Novo Nordisk. The job reports directly to the Corporate VP of Global Project Management The position As Vice President, you will be responsible for driving research and early development projects toward their transition into the clinical phase 1/phase 2. We typically engage in the drug research projects from the period leading up to a new research project entering our formal portfolio, and we stay with the projects until a suitable time point between selection of the Development Candidate and ½-1 year before initiation of clinical phase 2. Your main responsibilities will be to:
• lead the identification of a lead candidate and mature this towards clinical development, including first health authority interactions
• be responsible for the first product development plan & strategy and the early clinical development activities
• lead a cross functional global project team for each project under which multiple sub-teams operate
• work with colleagues from the entire Research & Early Development and Development organisations as well as with our commercial organisation to define the project strategies and plans in a portfolio context
• secure that the project strategies are executed in alignment with Novo Nordisk governance and cross-functional stakeholders Finally, you will be the key person in interactions with Novo Nordisk governance bodies enabling optimal decision making.
Qualifications We are looking for someone that has broad understanding across the pharmaceutical drug development value chain, including elements of biology, pharmacology, protein engineering, Intellectual Property Rights, Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control, non-clinical, translational medicine, clinical development, digital tools and options, regulatory, market access and commercial aspects.
To succeed in this role, you have: • a MSc/Ph.D. within natural science, medicine, or similar
• extensive pharma experience with solid knowledge of the drug development process
• thorough understanding of the R&D value chain
• understanding and insight into digitalisation options within drug development
• experience with formal or informal leadership Finally, experience in international private and academic collaborations and partnerships and an open and global mindset will complete the profile. On a personal level, you have excellent people, collaboration and communication skills and a strong ability to create winning global teams. You have a proactive, open-minded and visible leadership style, you can create overview and set clear direction while solving and executing complex tasks.
