We are looking for a colleague to join the department of Analysis and Separation in the Research and Early Development division at Novo Nordisk A/S. If you enjoy working in a creative and dedicated team that develops analysis methods in early research projects for drug candidate selection, apply for the position as Analytical Separation Scientist and join us in our office in Måløv, Denmark. The Position In the role of Analytical Separation Scientist, the following represent key responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of new analytical separation technologies to meet the future project portfolio
  • Develop and support high through put automated sample preparation and analysis for in-process control and drug screening
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation as part of cross-functional research teams
  • Day-to-day hands-on work in an advanced laboratory setting, e.g. sample handling, instrument set-up and troubleshooting
  • Embrace the importance of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data principles in the development and management of analytical data
  • Utilise models, AI tools and other techniques to enhance data analysis, interpretation, and decision-making processes, leading to improved quality and throughput
  • Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • A recent Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Protein Chemistry, or a related discipline. Alternatively, a master's degree and more than three years of relevant industrial experience
  • Experience in setting up and designing experiments based on scientific literature within analysis, preferably liquid chromatography or capillary electrophoresis
  • Thrive working experimentally in laboratory settings to address scientific and technical challenges
  • Experience in capillary electrophoresis (CE) techniques for the separation and characterisation of proteins, antibodies and oligonucleotides would be highly advantageous
  • Experience with chromatographic or CE instrumentation
  • Strong teamwork and knowledge-sharing abilities
  • Effective communication skills in English

About the Department The Analysis and Separation department is an essential part of Global Research Technologies at Novo Nordisk A/S. We develop analytical separation methods suitable for characterising injectable and oral formulations of proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides, and other therapeutic modalities. The department consists of 9 enthusiastic and motivated colleagues, including scientists and technicians. We work with a variety of analytical separation and detection techniques such as reversed-phase chromatography (RPC), size exclusion chromatography (SEC), ion exchange chromatography (IEC), two-dimensional liquid chromatography (2D-LC), capillary isoelectric focusing (cIEF), capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE), capillary electrophoresis-sodium dodecyl sulfate (CE-SDS), multi-angle light scattering (MALS), refractive index detection (RI) and fluorescence detection (FLD). We explore high throughput technologies for drug candidate screening, automate sample preparation using robotics, and digitalise workflows using Empower as the main platform for automatic data capture and data treatment with future expansion into other data formats.
