Do you want to take part in creating the therapies of the future? We are looking to hire a talented Associate Scientist to support the development of a cell engineering platform within the Cell Therapy R&D unit at Novo Nordisk. If this opportunity sparks your interest, apply today and support us in translating stem cell-derived cell therapies into the clinic. The position
We are looking for a laboratory-based Associate Scientist who is ready to take on a position to support our efforts in progressing stem cell-based therapies towards clinical development, focused primarily on type 1 diabetes, chronic heart failure, and Parkinson’s disease. You will be part of a unique innovative and collaborative culture in Cell Therapy R&D, where you will work as part of a dedicated and supportive team, and with a high degree of autonomy and empowerment in your daily tasks. Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Generating in vitro proof-of-concept data to support the development of genome-modified human embryonic stem cell lines, focusing on maintenance, manipulation and analysis.
  • Performing assays that span a range of molecular and cellular biological techniques including PCR, cell electroporation, FACS analysis and cell sorting
  • Performing experiments based on established protocols and providing support to other staff in their experiments.
  • Please note that this position is maternity cover, so it's a one year fixed-term contract.
    Qualifications
For the Associate Scientist position, you have a M.S. degree in developmental/stem cell biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, or any other related field.
To succeed in this position, you have:
  • Preferably 2+ years’ experience in a wet lab.
  • Hands on experience with mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience with molecular biology and nucleic acid characterization techniques including PCR, qPCR, ddPCR and FACS
  • Preferably hands on experience with gene-editing technologies such as CRISPR-Cas9, MAD7 or base editing.
  • Familiarity with assay design, execution, and optimization.
  • On a personal level, you are dedicated, hard-working, and dependable with strong communication, writing, and data presentation skills. In addition, you have ability to work in a team-oriented and multidisciplinary environment. About the department
The Department of Cell Engineering is a dynamic, technology driven department, part of Cell Therapy R&D, a Transformational ResearchUnit (TRU) within Novo Nordisk. The TRU is unique in the sense that it covers the full R&D value chain, which means we function as an integrated unit, spanning from early research to GMP manufacturing and clinical development in the same organisation. Our department is part of the Research organization based in Måløv, Denmark and we are experts in stem cell culture, genome editing, differentiation, characterization, and both in vitro and in vivo functional assessment. Working at Novo Nordisk
At Novo Nordisk, we don’t wait for change. We drive it. We’re a dynamic company in an even more dynamic industry, and we know that what got us to where we are today is not necessarily what will make us successful in the future. We embrace the spirit of experimentation, striving for excellence without fixating on perfection. We never shy away from opportunities to develop, we seize them. From research and development, through to manufacturing, marketing and sales – we’re all working to move the needle on patient care. Contact
