Department of Nutrition, Exercise, and Sports, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a PhD scholarship in Molecular Physiology commencing 1 October 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Description of the scientific environment.
The molecular physiology section focuses on how regulation of energy metabolism influences health and prevents development of disease. We focus on the interaction between physical activity, exercise training and nutrition. It is well known that regular physical activity and nutrition is important for maintaining health yet the underlying molecular mechanisms are not known but likely include regulation of energy metabolism particularly in muscle as well as cross-talk between muscle and other organs. We research from "molecule to man" including techniques of molecular biology, transgenic organisms and human beings.

Project description
This PhD project will elucidate the molecular mechanisms that drive exercise-induced health benefits. Methods will include human exercise experiments, proteomics with collaborators and target validation in mouse models.

Principal supervisor isProfessor, MD,Erik Arne Richter, Department of Nutrition, Exercise, and Sports, [email protected].
