The Cost Engineering department is part of the Industrialization area of VPS. The department is responsible for ensuring all new products & technologies achieve their value chain cost targets. With a successful track record the team of 5 is looking to expand to take on more responsibility to ensure all new technologies can achieve the required market demands.

The purpose is to ensure the correct design and product choices are made with the most accurate value chain cost data. Our team both challenges and tracks total cost for all new products, giving us a unique insight to provide input to the future product roadmap.

Responsibilities
Your main areas of responsibility will be the following:

  • To lead a new digitalisation project for cost management
  • To develop new cost models for future engineering projects and new modular products
  • To provide the official product cost input to the Vestas sales price
  • To challenge and support new product developments to bring down costs
  • Cost tracking, reporting and analysing
  • Identify cost out potentials relating to standardisation and modularisation (pareto analyses etc.)
  • Benchmark with best-in-class on Lean Accounting and establish Lean Accounting principles for total Value Chain at Vestas

Naturally, it is important to secure transparency of the product & value chain costs as well as stakeholder alignment across the company.

Qualifications

  • You may have 3-5 years + experience within a similar role from a manufacturing environment, wind would be ideal but you might also come from other industries like aerospace, automotive etc.
  • You hold a Master’s degree / MBA, preferably Engineering or Finance background. In addition, it is preferred that you have experience in new IT solutions, architecture and programming
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Experience of Microsoft packages, and IT development. SAP PLC, aPriori, BI and other project tools would be beneficial
  • It is beneficial with knowledge of Engineering Cost Drivers (Value engineering), Value Chain Understanding, as well as IT database and IT tool creation (SQL, Visual basic, SAP HANA, etc) in combination with Financial modelling

The successful candidate will either have competencies in these areas:

Proactive and self-driven

  • In near future, you must have the drive to see the tasks, challenges, issues and problems arising and deal with these accordingly without instruction from other parties

Diplomatic

  • It is a must that you can handle conflicting interests between design parameters such as product cost, investment costs, resources and project deadlines

Assertive and well-spoken

  • Critical competence needed in situations where product cost estimates do not meet product cost targets, which could jeopardise the viability of the project and product. Good communication skills help you as well succeed when presenting your results

Furthermore, we envision that you possess a:

  • Keen interest in the financial impact of product design as well the technicalities of the design to enable understanding between the financial area and the engineering area
  • Detail-oriented and analytic approach in product cost consolidation
  • Good understanding of Value chain and the cost drivers within
  • Costing experience within a modularisation and standardisation project is preferred

Additional information
Primary work location: Aarhus N, Denmark.
