Are you a scientist with your heart set in communicating high level science to a broad audience? And do you want to work closely with top management and dedicated communicators in Global Drug Discovery in Novo Nordisk? Then you could be the new science communication partner in our team!
About the department
Global Drug Discovery (GDD) Communication is a small team directly supporting the senior vice president (SVP) and GDD top management as well as the entire GDD organisation with both science-related and general communication, for both internal and external purposes. You will join a team that takes pride in delivering communication of high quality, works on a number of exciting communication projects, often also with tight deadlines and that has a large focus on collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. You will also be a part of our GDD communications network and a global network of communicators across Novo Nordisk.
The position
As science communication partner your most important task is to support the SVP in GDD with science communication, to translate some of our most exciting scientific discoveries into presentations or stories for a broader audience. Connecting the dots between basic and clinical research data and disease understanding, or unmet medical needs is crucially important. You can use your creative mind to develop visually appealing presentations and adapt the storytelling to various audiences such as Novo Nordisk employees, scientists, journalists and health care personnel. On occasion you will be working directly with the SVP and advise on strategic matters in relation to science communication.
As part of the GDD communication team, you will also have an important role in supporting top management in GDD as well as the entire GDD organisation with science-related communication through channels such as newsletters, articles and quarterly meetings for all employees.
The position is newly created, and you will shape it in collaboration with the team. We don’t use a lot of templates and always welcome new ideas, ways of working and cool visuals.
You will report directly to the SVP Communications Partner in Global Drug Discovery - and work closely with stakeholders across the GDD organisation and Novo Nordisk.
Qualifications
• A Master’s degree or preferably a PhD in science
• Very strong presentation and communication skills and either an education and/or working experience in communication
• Working experience in the pharmaceutical - or similar industry – is preferred
• Excellent understanding of and preferably working experience with basic and/or clinical research
• Excellent skills in power point, writing articles and communicating in a scientific context
• Fluent written and oral English
On a personal level, you are pro-active with a high drive and can-do attitude. You can work independently but also engage in collaborations as a strong team player. You have a high degree of integrity, your stakeholder management skills are great, and you take pride in delivering high quality material at top management level with a strategic perspective. You possess an innovative mind-set and flexible attitude and are ready to work in an exciting environment close to the top management in GDD where things happen at a fast pace and where priorities change on a frequent basis. Finally, you possess a good sense of humour and an open mind.
