Join our team of procurement and cross-functional colleagues and work with us to transform the way we execute landside transportation, by looking into how we capture and execute our rates and terms, how further optimize our processes, and by driving transformation and developing and implementing new global polices and governance under SAP TM.

We are changing our transport management capabilities to address the challenges of how we operate today, but also to propel us into our digital future. We are exploring industry leading transport management platforms hereunder SAP Transportation Management.
With SAP TM or other industry leading TM we deploy platform(s) where we execute our inland transportation, enabling us to drive more valuable relationships with our customers and defining a new effortless experience that makes it easy to do business with us.
In this Functional Product Owner (FPO) role in Maersk Procurement, you will be the global procurement lead for the main deployment track, being the focal between the different teams that need to come together to transform how we execute landside transportation to drive automation, increase compliance and enhance forecasting and reporting.
You will collect requirements from end users as well as risk and compliance teams and connect with the global Procurement organization, Platform Product Owners (PPOs) and digital/tech teams to determine digital solutions to capture the identified requirements.
Together with Global super users, you will be responsible for coordinating end user testing for new solutions or enhancements made to existing solutions and ensure that feedback and improvement needs are assessed with the developers for prioritization.
You will also be responsible for outlining the processes, SOPs and general governance around SAP TM or other TMS solution being deployed. Ensuring that end users are actively using the tools available and that the quality of the input is consistently at an acceptable level.
You will ensure we develop, maintain and automate the solutions at a continuous basis. Together with Rate Digitalization FPO you will ensure that rate structures under TMS follow agreed global standards or approved local exceptions and together with the relevant colleagues and teams coordinate the creation of new standards when needed.
A key part of the role is working with the teams to drive transformation into global standards, ensuring best practice sharing across teams and functions and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Global lead and focal point for the deployment of global digital transport management solutions (TMS) to plan and execute landside transportation.
- Lead Procurement Explore sessions, capturing gaps and opportunities.
- For deployment/pipeline related countries, TMS FPO need to master and have a deep knowledge on how we source, file and execute contracted rates, how rate structures are used for calculating total costs under actual and potential scenarios, which base rates and surcharges are used and how they are calculated. Also need to have a good understanding on the communication flows with suppliers during contract execution and how exceptions are managed by the different teams. Need to be able to identify potential scenarios which could cause a compliance breach and must be able to propose solutions to eliminate those risks. Smooth coordination and communication with local teams will be key to obtain such information.
- Agree on exceptions to TMS global standards together with Rate Digitalization if a local requirement cannot be standardized because of legal reasons, or if we identify such local exception adds significant value.
- Define and lead in close cooperation with PPOs on what requirements are needed for a successful TMS deployment in each country, prioritizing / de-selecting non key requirements when needed to comply with stablished timelines. A clear definition of requirements is a key responsibility of FPO.
- Provide sign off for the functional specifications for the agreed requirements. Also give sign off for demos and final solutions.
- Participate in outlining scope, timelines and resource needs for the different TMS deployments when applicable.
- Coordinate the creation, maintenance and delivery of TMS procurement related training material together with Global super users.
- Outline processes, SOPs and governance related to TMS, in coordination with other FPOs.
- Identify performance and compliance requirements of any new TMS solution or feature related to Procurement and determine how to implement
- Continuously maintain TMS related processes, keeping in mind impact to upstream or downstream processes/platforms
- Identify data analytics needs for TMS, raise requirements, deploy.
- Identify other automation opportunities related to TMS and outline plan for implementation
- Maintain always up to date global standard process maps and agreed local exceptions in BES, Horizzon and any other relevant process repository, in relation with TMS.
Who we are looking for
An inspiring change and project leader with +5 years’ experience that can take the procurement teams on a transformation journey and handle multiple projects at same time with different drivers and stakeholders.
You have project management experience (preferably within procurement, finance/cost control or tech/digital) combined with transformation and/or change management experience in (co-)building robust long-term roadmap.
Furthermore you:
- Have experience with digital transformations
- Have the ability to develop strong cross-functional relationships and to influence and impact without authority
- Have basic understanding of Procurement and/or Procure to Pay processes is a must
- Have basic understanding of Inland/Landside Procurement is an advantage
- Are a strong believer in process excellence that can design and implement global processes and governance across multiple locations, teams and system landscapes
- Have excellent written and verbal communicator in English.
