This role reports to Marketing and Sales Manager and is located in San Francisco, California. As an Account Manager Distribution, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining productive working relationships with assigned channel partners, at all levels of their organization. Responsibilities include assisting with project quotations, order management, customer training, stock maintenance and order analysis to position ABB as a preferred vendor.

Your responsibilities


  • Plan and implement sales strategies to maximize market share and margin with channel partners.
  • Create and manage Sales & Purchasing Agreement (SPA's) for strategic partners and end users.
  • Assist channel partners with inventory planning.
  • Plan and lead marketing activities with channel partners.
  • Develop selling strategies to negotiate and close deals.
  • Develop trust with customers to be the first escalation point when they need assistance.
  • Generate cross-selling leads and make it easier to do business with ABB.
  • Conduct presentations to create awareness of complete ABB solutions.
  • Introduce new products to existing customer base and identify target customers.
  • Create strategic account plans for key customers.
  • Meet or exceed assigned volume measurements.
  • Develop cost effective and creative proposals based on drawings and specifications and provide value engineering suggestions, provide full packages to differentiate from competition.
  • Understand market pricing and utilize to successfully close opportunities.
  • Provide market feedback, competitive intelligence and hit-rate information to business and sales leadership.
  • Track sales leads, wins and losses in Customer Response Management (CRM) system, perform analysis on hit-rate data.
  • Create customer marketing programs New Product Introduction (NPI) launch, training to promote ABB products and services.
  • Participate in industry and local organizations to build relationships.
  • Lead customer trainings on ABB products and tools.

Your background


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college with minimum 4 years of experience in Sales OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 4 years of experience in Sales.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Industrial Distribution preferred.
  • Experience with complex contact negotiations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical industry and ABB products.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Experience working with contractors & channel partners.
  • Strong technical application, take-off and proposal development skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to customer needs.
  • Strong coordination and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of customer financial drivers / needs.
  • Six Sigma or equivalent Quality training.
  • Ability to utilize analytical software and sales tools.
  • Strong oral, written communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
