The position
The Associate Category Manager position is an entry position, where you will be introduced to a broad aspect of IT Infrastructure and IT Consultancy sourcing with great emphasis on developing your profile to pursue a career within sourcing/procurement. You’ll be involved in everything from smaller engagements to larger supplier contract negotiations.
Your focus area will be sourcing support to our Global IT Operations team, when purchase IT hardware, software etc., and sourcing of IT Consultants across Novo Nordisk.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
Qualifications
We expect you have 1 – 3 years of experience within sourcing or procurement, but an IT sales background is also relevant.
You are a comfortable working with data and you are experienced user of Excel.
You are comfortable using data to drive evidence-based decision-making, complete high-quality complex analyses, and draw strong recommendations.
You work well in teams and is a fast learner.
We also expect you to be curious to understand the value chain in a large organisation.

About the department
Within this position you will become part of our IT Infrastructure and Consultancy department, where we are 9 people – 6 in Denmark and 3 in India – and we are currently facing a huge growth in both our business areas.
Our department resides within Corporate Procurement, which consists of 140 employees based in Denmark and India, and 400 people work in procurement globally. We promote a global mind-set, dedication to business partnering and a relentless focus on creating a rewarding career for our people. We invest significant resources in developing our employees through coaching, frequent feedback, formal training and by giving challenging responsibility to individuals
The Digital Data & IT (DDIT) sourcing department is within Corporate Procurement and supports the global Novo Nordisk organization. It is responsible for ensuring we help realise the Novo Nordisk Strategy where Digitalization, automation and technology is at the core of our ambition, impacting the future trends. We work based on facts, are dedicated to collaborative problem solving and take active leadership for the initiatives we are involved in.

The position
The Associate Category Manager position is an entry position, where you will be introduced to a broad aspect of IT Infrastructure and IT Consultancy sourcing with great emphasis on developing your profile to pursue a career within sourcing/procurement. You’ll be involved in everything from smaller engagements to larger supplier contract negotiations.
Your focus area will be sourcing support to our Global IT Operations team, when purchase IT hardware, software etc., and sourcing of IT Consultants across Novo Nordisk.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Support our Global IT organisation driving small to medium sourcing/procurement events.
- Assist our category managers in developing and applying our hardware/software category strategy.
- Be an active part of the sourcing/procurement team with larger engagements.
- Help in preparing data and analysis to support sourcing/procurement negotiations and events.
- Take ownership of running e-auctions.
- Build strong customer relations with our Line of Business to secure procurement involvement in sourcing activities.
- Execute on customer requests (Line of Business)
- Manage supplier relationship - including supplier segmentation and strategy development and execution of planned activities.
- Within a short time frame you are expected to drive events and negotiations independently.
Qualifications
We expect you have 1 – 3 years of experience within sourcing or procurement, but an IT sales background is also relevant.
You are a comfortable working with data and you are experienced user of Excel.
You are comfortable using data to drive evidence-based decision-making, complete high-quality complex analyses, and draw strong recommendations.
You work well in teams and is a fast learner.
We also expect you to be curious to understand the value chain in a large organisation.
Further qualifications:
- Master's Degree in, e.g. Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or similar with excellent results complemented with relevant experience working with, e.g., procurement project management, sourcing, category management, supply chain, or business development
- Alternatively, you possess a Bachelor Degree or equivalent combined with relevant work experience within, e.g., procurement, sourcing, category management, sales, supply chain, or business development
- Strategic and innovative mindset and can provide hands-on operational support.
- Excellent execution skills.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience in Digital, Data and IT sourcing will be an advantage.
