You will be leading the in vivo Cardio-Renal Pharmacology department, contributing to innovation and drug discovery within cardio-renal disease. Cardio-Renal Pharmacology is 1 of 5 departments in the VP area Integrated Physiology Research (IPR), which is responsible for in vivo pharmacology and microphysiological systems within cardiometabolic diseases in early research. The 5 departments in IPR work closely together to enable active and engaged involvement of IPR in pipeline progression. Cardio-Renal Pharmacology is involved in ideation, target discovery, design and planning of in vivo pharmacology studies and other project activities related to identification and progression of new drug targets, e.g. in vivo model development and assessment of external opportunities. The department is presently focused on atherosclerosis, heart failure, chronic kidney disease, as well as alternative delivery solutions. Animal models applied include rodents and large animals.
As part of a matrix organisation, you will join a team of highly skilled professionals and will work in close collaboration with experts in other areas and with contract research organizations to enable innovation and pipeline progression. Your responsibilities include and are not limited to: Management and leadership of employees in Cardio-Renal Pharmacology Active involvement in the IPR leadership team; strategy, goal-setting, execution and cross-organisational collaboration Leading in vivo pharmacology strategy in the cardio-renal space, and providing input to the therapy area strategy Strong and close collaboration with the cardio-renal therapy area Ensuring cross-disciplinary interaction and collaboration internally and externally The job level will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the ideal candidate. Qualifications
You have people management and drug discovery experience preferably from an industrial setting. It is a clear advantage if you have hands on experience with preclinical in vivo pharmacology in the cardiometabolic space.
To be successful in this position you have: A PhD in life sciences with at least 5+ years of relevant experience Solid leadership experience Proven expertise within in vivo pharmacology and drug discovery principles A scientific background within cardiorenal biology will be a plus Strong ability to network and collaborate across disciplines Proficiency in spoken and written English As a person, you are a dedicated, open-minded, and an innovative team player with good collaboration and problem-solving skills. You can set direction and ensure follow-through both for yourself and the people you lead. Critical thinking, excellent communication skills, integrity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment are all essential qualities in this position. About the department
The well-functioning department consists of 19 highly skilled and experienced employees (9 scientists and 10 laboratory technicians) working at our sites in Måløv and Ganløse (Greater Copenhagen). We work in a global matrix organization and everyone in the department work ‘across borders’ (organizationally and/or physically).
