The position
As BCL you will use your strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical research value chain, with particular focus on target discovery and translational research, and digital expertise to enable Novo Nordisk to focus on the right targets and accelerate the path to the clinic. You would determine the most impactful areas where digital can be used to develop novel insights, through software products (buy or build) and data products for the researchers. You will partner with scientific stakeholders to define the scope and value of such initiatives, and with technical stakeholders (e.g. in the IT organization) to determine the appropriate architectural approaches and resourcing required for implementation. Your key areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Developing vision and roadmaps for enabling and accelerating human relevant target discovery and translational research using digital technologies Partnering with scientific and technical stakeholders to identify, prioritise and resource future developments (portfolio management) Participating as member of the portfolio leadership team, carefully balancing the introduction of new products, with the retirement of old products, and reduction in technical debt Directing Business Analysts (internal and external) to understand business needs and product requirements Keeping stakeholders (including senior leadership) informed on progress with strategic initiatives, and escalate decisions as needed Qualifications
To thrive and succeed in this role, we expect you to have: A background of 5+ years of experience in drug discovery/research. A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational/Systems Biology, Genetics, or similar field, would be advantageous Strong vision as to how data and digital technology (including AI) can be used to optimize target discovery and clinical translation, including ability to describe/assess business value Thorough understanding of the drug discovery and development processes in pharma Significant product/project/ experience, e.g. as Product Owner/Project Manager Experience with (scaled) agile methodologies is considered an advantage As a person, you excel at communicating with colleagues at different levels inside and outside of the company and across disciplines. You are used to navigate in a complex matrix organisation and take though discussions and decisions. You have a strategic and collaborative mindset. About the department
The Scientific Digital Capabilities department is part of Scientific Data Registration, where our vision is to enable data-driven drug discovery and accelerate the research pipeline by scientific digital capabilities & solutions. We are responsible for providing scientific software and data to support the global research and early development organisation at Novo Nordisk. Our work spans driving digitalisation of laboratories, enabling scientific data capture, creating harmonized data for analytics, and providing informatics tools. We enable disruptive innovation and data driven decision making across areas that include disease understanding, molecular design, portfolio management and external scouting.
