The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University is looking for a project employee, for the pharmacogenomics of ADHD project as per 1st October or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is 3,7 hours per week.
We offer a vibrant international research environment where English is the preferred language in the laboratory, at meetings and at seminars. The Department employs some 450 people and covers a range of research areas within Biomedicine. We contribute to the Bachelor’s degree programs in medicine, molecular medicine, odontology and the Master’s degree programs in biomedical engineering and medical chemistry. Our infrastructure is well developed with modern laboratories, core and animal facilities. You will work either in the brand new ‘Skou Building’ or similar as we are in the process of modernizing our old facilities. You can read more about the department here and about the faculty here.
Your job responsibilities
As a project employee for the pharmacogenomics of ADHD project, your primary tasks are data processing and data analysis using advanced pharmaco-epidemiological and genomic methods. You contribute to the project through project co-ordination, data processing, analyses, and scientific writing. In your daily work, you have a close interaction with competent colleagues.

Your competences
You have academic qualifications at PhD level within epidemiology and proven experience of working with statistical genetic methods. In addition, experience of working with register data, conducting advanced pharmaco-epidemiological analyses and GWAS, ability to code in SAS and R, and a proven publication track-record in a relevant field is required. Knowledge of psychiatry and particularly ADHD will be considered an advantage.
As a person, you are ambitious, well organised, have good interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate within large, international consortia, and able to contribute to a good work environment.
We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.

Your main tasks will consist of:
- Independent research of high international quality
- Extraction and management of data from the Danish registers (primarily the Danish Prescription Database) on servers at Statistics Denmark.
- Develop phenotyping methods to capture ADHD medication discontinuation for pharmaco-epidemiological analyses using register data
- Perform statistical analyses of large-scale genetic datasets to identify genetic risk variants involved in ADHD medication discontinuation.
- Perform analyses of the polygenic architecture of ADHD medication discontinuation including genetic correlation analyses and polygenic risk score analyses.
- The position also entails coordinating and facilitating GWAS meta-analyses across multiple international research groups
