The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Postdoc in the field of cell biology as per 1 September 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term full-time position for two years with the possibility of extension for suitable progress.
We offer a vibrant international research environment where English is the preferred language in the laboratory, at meetings and at seminars. The Department employs some 450 people and covers a range of research areas within Biomedicine. We contribute to the Bachelor’s degree programs in medicine, molecular medicine, odontology and the Master’s degree programs in biomedical engineering and medical chemistry. Our infrastructure is well developed with modern laboratories, core and animal facilities. You will work either in the brand new ‘Skou Building’ or similar as we are in the process of modernizing our old facilities. You can read more about the department here and about the faculty here.
About the research project
The research project will use a range of in vitro and in vivo techniques to investigate how G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) signal via their Gß? dimer to facilitate regulated membrane protein trafficking (aquaporin used as model membrane protein). The project will provide fundamental new knowledge for how GPCRs convey their intracellular effects and it has the potential of uncovering fundamental new mechanisms for GPCR-mediated protein trafficking. The successful candidate will use/learn high-resolution imaging techniques, CRISPR-Cas9 mediated gene editing of cells and mice, various biochemical approaches, and microscale thermophoresis during the project.
Your job responsibilities
As Postdoc in cell biology your position is primarily research-based but may also involve teaching assignments. You will contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. Candidate should have prior documented experience with cell culture, biochemical techniques (including ELISA, protein purification), immunocytochemistry (including semi-quantitative confocal imaging), western blotting, and qRT-PCR. Experience with CRISR-Cas9 biology in animal/cell models is considered a distinct advantage. The successful candidate must demonstrate a drive and capacity to work independently within a larger research group, supervise students and to develop this specific research field.
