For our Technology Evaluation and Innovation Strategy team (TEIS), we are looking for an Expert for industrial automation, robotics and digital manufacturing.
The wind industry has emerged to a significant contributor to the energy landscape within few decades – a development that is almost unmatched when compared to other energy technologies. Our manufacturing processes are dealing with a range of very small to extremely large dimensions, highly sophisticated mechanical and mechatronic manufacturing technologies, cutting edge data analytics and agile software development. In all of this tremendous potential is to be found for streamlining processes, increasing automation level and human-machine collaboration, improving quality management and control. The potential can be either leveraged by looking for improvement potential in our own processes or by transferring established or disruptive technologies from other industries, start-ups or academia. In this role you will be working on the forefront of this activity, looking into use cases within the production of offshore and onshore turbines and field services applications.
This is a function that is allocated within our CTO organization, interfacing in all technical domains across our global development organization.

What are my responsibilities?
As an expert for industrial automation, robotics and digital manufacturing your responsibilities are:
Trend scouting:
- Understanding technology trends and relevant recent developments in automation, robotics, AR and VR technologies
- Understanding the underlying landscape of market players in both industry and academia
Feasibility studies and pilot projects:
- Our approach will always be use case centric. As a prerequisite the commercial value of transferring technologies into our organization needs to be understood
- Once the most relevant use case have been identified you will need to evaluate which technologies appear to be most suitable to address our challenges
- For some selected cases you will be proposing pilot projects to our management to proof the technical and commercial feasibility. Depending on the setup you will be playing a crucial role in managing those pilot projects, including commercial and stakeholder management
- You will be part of a number of forums and cross organization activities, managing a network to industrial and academic partners
What do I need to qualify for this job?
- You probably have a master’s degree in mechanical engineering / production technologies
- A PHD and / or a proven record (3-5 years) in a relevant research environment is a plus. A healthy mix of academic and industrial research is a plus
- You have a proven track-record in automation and robotics. You have managed and implemented technologies for automation. You have gained experience across other relevant sub-domains, e.g. such as coding and metrology. You possess a solid knowledge of manufacturing and production technologies in general
- Ideally you have been working in the wind industry before
- You have a proven track record in compiling and presenting excellent reports with solid conclusions and recommendations to all management levels. Your analytical skill are outstanding.
- You are a result driven person who’s motivation is driven by delivering tangible results that mark a real impact
- Your English proficiency is at a professional level, both orally and in writing
