Vestas Power Solutions Offshore Technical Sales & Siting Solutions
The Offshore Technical Sales & Siting Solutions department is the offshore-focused arm of our global technical sales organisation, providing the link between our sales business unit and our customer needs towards the central power solutions team, responsible for global product development in Vestas. The (Lead) Technical Bid Engineer roles within Technical Sales & Siting Solutions are highly diversified roles that require strong technical skills as well as a solid commercial mindset. You will work with our commercial Sales group, our customers as well as central engineering functions, to deliver the best possible technical solutions for our customers, targeting exponential growth in the offshore wind segment.

Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities as a (Lead) Technical Bid Engineer will be to ensure timely and correct responses to customer enquiries, prepare clarifications and deviations to tenders, and direct technical optimization and negotiations together with the Sales team. After an intensive induction, you will be assigned to Vestas' sales activities for our bottom-fixed offshore or floating offshore segments. Furthermore, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility for the technical solution during the sales phase. You will be the link between the Offshore Sales organisation and VPS (Vestas Power Solutions) on your respective project(s) and topics
  • Effectively lead optimization and value engineering of the technology scope, and handle technical risk as an active member of a Sales project team
  • Ensure timely responses to customer enquiries, prepare clarifications and deviations to tenders, as well as technical annexes and contract schedules
  • You will need to network to build relationships with the key technical stakeholders in your customers' organisations, promoting their requirements inside Vestas and ensuring a winning technical value proposition
  • You will develop a strong understanding of the market and customer business cases, as well as project-specific and general technical market requirements

Qualifications

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) combined with a commercial interest, or a commercial background with solid interest in understanding the technical aspects of large-scale industrial projects
  • Experience in leading technical scoping and clarifications, developing technical value propositions and managing technical risk, ideally of heavy machinery, power plant equipment or similar
  • Previous experience in (floating) offshore wind energy would be beneficial
  • Fluency in business English both spoken and written would be essential; additional Scandinavian or European languages would be beneficial

Competencies

  • Solid communication skills and prior experience interacting with a variety of technical and commercial stakeholders
  • Organised and collaborative with proven experience working in innovative and high-pressure tendering environments
  • Results-oriented, with the ability to be innovative and creative in building a technical value proposition and seeking out value optimisation opportunities
  • High level of customer focus, with a holistic understanding of how technical solutions impact a business case commercially and contractually
  • Professional presentation skills with ability to present to senior management

Additional information
You will report to the Head of Technical Sales & Siting Solutions, Offshore.
Your work location could be in Aarhus N (DK), Hamburg (DE), Edinburg (UK) or London (UK). Some travel activity is to be expected for up to 25% of your time.
