The position As Associate Category Manager, your role is to assist Senior Category Managers in defining a clear Category Strategy and independently driving specific sourcing projects to select partners for new compounds by connecting relevant stakeholders and facilitating discussion. You will be responsible for managing the commercial relationships with a selected number of Contracting Manufacturing Organisations (CMO) to ensure adherence and updates to the contract and secure the development of established partners. Your main tasks are related to: Assisting in the formulation of a clear Category strategy which aligns with the company’s overall corporate strategy Understanding market trends and identifying opportunities to shape sourcing strategies while addressing potential risks Cultivating a strong commercial approach and mindset in category operations, fully leveraging available business intelligence and tools Assisting in the creation and implementation of sourcing strategies for specific materials in accordance with both short and long-term strategic goals Coordinating with CMO’s and establishing enduring, sustainable relationships The suppliers of Drug Substance are located primarily in Europe, USA and Asia, hence you should expect up to 30 days of travel activities per year. Your success will depend on your ability to bridge the needs of the organization and the availabilities of the market through contracting partners, creating the best supply solutions for Novo Nordisk. With this in mind, you will apply a balanced approach to quality, delivery cost, and sustainability as the beacon that guides you through a complex landscape of business-critical decisions. This position holds ample opportunities for personal and professional development and will quickly establish you as the go-to person within your area. The position is key for Novo Nordisk to be able to supply existing and new medicines and thereby holds lot of management attention and visibility.
Qualifications To be successful in this position, we imagine you: Hold a master’s degree in supply chain, business engineering, or a related field Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in category management or procurement Demonstrate familiarity with manufacturing processes within the pharmaceutical industry Have knowledge of one or more of the following areas – API, Chemical Synthesis (peptides) or small molecule Exhibit a commercial mindset and adept communication skills for effective engagement with external partners on pricing and responsible sourcing Display fluency in both written and spoken English It would be considered as an advantage if you ha ve exposure to peptides and/or s mall molecule or similar produc t and possess experience in creati ng strategies within a category and sourcing. As a person, you are confident when navigating in big organizations. You have a strategic mindset and the ability to quickly understand different business models and industry dynamics. You can impact decision-making through clear recommendations, always founded on solid data and analysis. Since the job requires you to create a broad range of trustful relations across and beyond Novo Nordisk, we expect you to be an outgoing person with a strong personal drive and dedication with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You are a change management agent and are able to negotiate with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You can put strategy into action by breaking the bigger picture down into specific supply chain related decisions. Additionally, you thrive in a busy environment and bring a ‘can-do attitude’ and a healthy sense of humour to your work also when the pressure is on.

Strategic Sourcing (StSo) is the global sourcing unit in Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply division, and we are responsible for securing that we have suppliers in place that can support Novo Nordisk’s worldwide pharmaceutical production. Through collaboration with our global supplier networks, we ensure availability of the supply needed to develop and produce products that helps millions of people around the world to live with chronical diseases. Drug Substance Outsourcing is one of the departments in StSo and we source all non-commodity drug substance materials for our products. The department consists of several category managers with varying level of experience who together are responsible to secure Drug Substance Outsourcing in close collaboration with many internal and external stakeholders.
