The role of the Senior Software Engineer



As a Senior Software Engineer within our Developer Platform team, you will be a driver and doer in a fundamental shift in how we deliver systems. Your focus will be to developing a solution to provide a single unifying deployment system to deliver software anywhere in the world in minutes.

You will work to deliver features and enhancements to our developer platform systems. Collaborate with other team members to derive innovative solutions to complex problems. Strive to automate and eliminate alerts and bugs from our system that cause problems for our customers. Seek to run solutions in a cost optimized manner.

The team will also be responsible for aiding platform teams in the transition from one of CI/CD solutions to an enterprise wide offering. This involves creating documentation and code examples that can be referenced in support channels, teaching sessions, or one on one meetings with engineering teams.

As a senior engineer, you will demonstrate the following characteristics:
• You are creative and come up with innovative approaches to projects and any issues that arise.
• You are a “do’er”. You get things done.
• Sharing expertise and insight with other engineers.
The ideal candidate will have a background that spans development and operations. We are looking for software engineers with preference for staff with experience working in infrastructure, plus some ability across all areas; bracketed technology is desirable.
• DevOps - Git (Github), Github Actions, Opensource CI/CD, Cloud CI/CD
• Observability – Metrics, Logging, Tracing, Notifications
• Backend – API, CLI, process orchestration/choreography, Java / Golang


Key Responsibilities



• Contribute to the developer platform system to build and deliver software anywhere in the world
• Contribute to a micro-service architecture based on Java Springboot
• Provide code to glue infrastructure together in an opinionated way that will allow developers to focus on feature delivery, and not infrastructure provisioning
• Streamline internal operations through automation and programming solutions
• Be an advocate for the platform by engaging with engineering teams to show best practices
• Write clean concise documentation for internal and external audiences
• Be a member of hiring panels

Key Skills



• Experience using CI/CD systems
• Experience developing in Java Springboot
• Experience running cloud infrastructure and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Exposure to Golang, experience programming
• Experience using a cloud provider (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Understanding of microservice based architectures and how to achieve composability
• Excellent communication skills, solid work ethic, and a strong desire to write production quality code.
• Experience of Test-Driven Development approaches
• Demonstrable high levels of integrity
