Do you wish to experience a highly professional and engaging global environment bringing clinical projects to market? Then our department has an exciting short-term opportunity (1 year) to apply your skills, quality mind-set and flair for technology into adapting our standards and tools to the evolving e-clinical landscape.

About the Department

In Development, we manage clinical drug development worldwide, ensuring that the process lives up to uniform global standards, regulations and business ethics while delivering viable products that make a difference to patients and ultimately benefit society. Our department, Data Systems and Standards, is a part of Development and consists of 19 enthusiastic and highly engaged people.

The Position

The Standards Developer delivers to a diverse set of responsibilities that revolve around the development and use of clinical data standards, tools and processes to support the efficient execution of our global clinical studies.

The Standards Developer’s responsibilities can be broadly grouped as follows:

  • define and develop clinical data standards that are compliant with requirements from regulatory agencies (e.g. CDISC, ICH) and cater to the operational and scientific requirements in our studies, and support in their continuous improvement
  • research external and internal industry best practices to identify and implement improvements and provide expert advice to the organisation in the business processes we operate in
  • develop and maintain digital and automation solutions that improve the use of our systems and standards and support efficiencies in processes shared with our stakeholders
  • support our clinical studies in ensuring compliance to business requirements through expert advice, just-in-time training and system implementations

Digitalisation is at the heart of our current transformations, and the Standards Developers’ skills include a fair portion of scientific and clinical knowledge, flair for technology and data science, and the ability to keep a broad overview of our processes while developing deep specialisation in one or more key functions.

The position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience through working in multi-functional and international teams on a variety of clinical and technical projects that span several functions in the drug development value chain.

Qualifications

You hold a university degree within IT, natural science or other field of relevance.

You demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and deliver to a good portion of the Standards Developer’s responsibilities and the potential to upskill yourself in a continuously evolving environment.

Experience in clinical research and drug development, especially within data science and analytics, or related professional fields would be an advantage.

You have an analytical approach to tasks, high attention to details performing careful meticulous work, and the ability to quickly grasp the overview and inter-relationship of discrete processes, data types and related systems. You have good experience programming in one or more technologies related to data science, information management or process automation, and you are confident in your ability to learn new ones.

You can work in a complex and fast paced environment with many stakeholders and parallel projects without compromising the quality of the work. You are a team player, but can also work independently, and take on responsibility and show initiative.

Ability to manage complex and critical communication in a clear, concise, and timely fashion is a must, and experience with structured authoring is a benefit. Fluency in oral and written English is essential.

On a personal level, you bring creativity, flexibility, and an infectious can-do attitude. You are team oriented and enjoy working with people from different professional backgrounds. You are eager to see things moving forward and possess a certain drive to make things happen while having a positive and motivating effect on your team members.
