Our Novo Nordisk CMC (Chemical Manufacturing & Control) API Pilot Plant is going through an exciting phase during which we strive to optimise and increase our production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) used for Novo Nordisk clinical and developmental trials around the word. You will be part of the Cultivation Recovery team, responsible for the initial purification steps of API expressed in mammalian cell cultures. The Cultivation Recovery team is a diverse team with new colleagues, working at ensuring continuous production on our existing equipment and at the same time ensuring the introduction of new techniques and equipment. As our new Pilot Scientist you will ensure: planning and co-ordinating API production campaigns in collaboration with the team and different stakeholders
represent the Recovery team in the project team
timely execution of API production within recovery processes
various tasks within the entire process chain, from raw materials planning, plant and utilities management, cultivation and recovery unit operations through reporting and co-ordination
The team works closely with skilled project staff, scientists, process technicians and calibration technicians/craftsmen.

You have a Master’s degree within biochemistry, chemistry, engineering or similar. You preferably have working experience from a cultivation-based production environment. Experience with the following will be considered an advantage: homogenization techniques for mammalian cells
column chromatography on pilot scale
GMP based production

You enjoy and act as a strong team player, working close with others to find relevant solutions to challenges. Structuring and planning your work with respect to departmental priorities and in close collaboration with the other team members comes natural to you. Chemical Manufacturing & Control (CMC) API Pilot is divided into five departments, three facilities, and two locations. The Cultivation Pilot Plants department includes pilot scale facilities for cultivation and recovery of proteins at around 1000L scale. Our pharmaceutical production processes utilise mammalian cells, yeast and E. coli. Our purified proteins are utilised in clinical trials and developmental trials. The department consists of around 80 employees divided into 5 teams: 2 X Cultivation, 2 X Recovery teams & 1 X Support team.
