Do you have solid experience in developing therapeutic products? Can you identify the risks and opportunities in a research or development project? Do you have good understanding of the therapeutic value chain? Can you ensure alignment of promising external assets to Novo Nordisk with the relevant strategy, portfolio, and organisation? Do you want to support all Business Development phases by building and driving a variable sized “Global Evaluation Project Team” that ensures holistic view on the key asset atrributes and the future asset value creation journey? If so, then this opportunity could be right for you. The position As Project Director (PD) in Development External Innovation you will, together with the Rare Disease therapy area, be responsible for the assessment of external assets and/or companies for in-licensing, partnering or acquisition. The asset can range from a therapeutic development candidate to a drug delivery device, or from a diagnostic tool to a digital solution with potential to support the Development organisation. Your tasks will be to: Work closely with the Rare Disease area across the Novo Nordisk organisation to ensure a holistic and realistic forward looking perspective on an asset of interest, and alignment with the relevant therapy area strategies Build an achievable Target Product Profile, and a realistic and actionable development plan to support valuation of the asset Support the different functional areas in providing their input to the assessment and future value creation journey for the asset Ensure alignment with relevant internal functions and/or projects in relation to the future plans for the asset Identify risks and opportunities, and define the Probability of Success of the different value creation phases Ensure appropriate briefing of and alignment with Development Leadership, and relevant senior stakeholders Drive seamless handover of asset/project to the receiving Project Vice President after deal closing In addition, you will also be tracking and reporting progress of the assessment to relevant stakeholders in collaboration with the Development External Innovation and Corporate Development teams. A key aspect of the role will be to represent Development when working with the deal team and other relevant parties. You will be based in Søborg, DK. Regular travel is expected in connection with the job. Qualifications You have an academic degree such as a master’s degree, or even a Ph.D. combined with several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a thorough understanding of the R&D value chain. You have strong interpersonal skills, and documented experience with building and leading teams. In addition, we expect you to have: Successful project management experience from leading cross functional projects Strong analytic mindset with ability to identify the critical path and parameters for value creation with ability to design and drive an assessment process and future project plans Medicinal product (drug or device) development understanding and knowledge on the drug development and life cycle management process, preferably from leading project teams through substantial parts of the product development life cycle Ability to create strong professional networks both with internal and external stakeholders Strong communication skills, written as well as oral In addition, it is an advantage if you have: Knowledge of the commercialisation of pharmaceuticals Business planning skills – knowledge/experience with project planning tools and processes About the Department The department “Development External Innovation” is newly formed in the “Development EVP area”. The department supports “Development” and “Corporate Development” in internalising external innovation covering all attributes constituting the final pharmaceutical treatment solution. The support involves: Innovation, assessments, due diligence, integration, and alliance management. We aspire to make Novo Nordisk “Development” the preferred partner for external organisations.
