About the department
R&ED Strategy & Portfolio serves as an internal function of Novo Nordisk, collaborating across R&ED and the Clinical Development organisation to develop, refine and facilitate the execution of strategies to meet our R&D aspirations. Over the coming years, Novo Nordisk R&ED will identify and execute on new strategic priorities, enabling the build-up of a more diverse, dynamic and scientifically leading pipeline of drug discovery and development projects.
The area is overall responsible for driving strategic initiatives across the R&ED organisation and collaborates across the Novo Nordisk value chain to arrive at well-founded recommendations that ultimately impact the future of Novo Nordisk. The unit directly supports and reports to the top management in R&ED and consists of a mix of experienced profiles with scientific, business and consultancy background as well as a mix of nationalities.
We are a tight-knit unit which is characterised by an informal atmosphere with emphasis on a friendly and engaging working environment. While we are deeply dedicated to our tasks, we maintain focus on preserving a healthy work-life balance.
The position
You will report to the VP of R&ED Portfolio & Analytics and drive high-impact projects which influence the strategic direction of the R&ED organisation. Large part of our deliverables are anchored at executive level, which requires the ability to challenge and collaborate across professional disciplines such as R&ED, Development, Finance and the Commercial business units, while also providing both a high level of visibility, accountability and hands on interaction throughout the value chain.
Thus, this role requires a deep understanding of the R&D value chain, combined with a strong and well-developed strategy toolbox and a willingness to drive projects independently as well as within cross-functional project teams.
Qualifications
The ideal candidates will have a balanced profile of scientific and business competencies combined with the ability to effectively communicate and work across the full value chain. Have a relevant high-level life science education, solid pharmaceutical industry experience and a strong business acumen is required.
You have experience in the following:
Finally, you have significant experience working with complex matrix organisations and you are capable of independently driving an agenda. As a person, you are ambitious, flexible and able to build trusting relationships at all levels.

You have experience in the following:
- Project management and strategy management skills are key.
- Proven experience in driving complex projects of a strategic nature. (i.e., top-tier consultancy, from a business development position or similar relevant industrial experience).
- Excellent presentation skills and you are capable of structuring material to enable efficient decision-making, while also tailoring the level of communication across stakeholders to ensure success of new initiatives.
Finally, you have significant experience working with complex matrix organisations and you are capable of independently driving an agenda. As a person, you are ambitious, flexible and able to build trusting relationships at all levels.
