Maersk is looking for a Head of Compliance in Europe to join us. You will be part of a dynamic and forward-looking team responsible for Maersk’s global compliance programme. You will have an opportunity to put your fingerprint on a challenging agenda which is shaping the culture of the company and the industry. We aim at actively identifying, developing and maintaining business opportunities, and mitigating risks. This is achieved by being a business supporter but also conduct compliance monitoring activities and investigations. There may also be interactions with regulators, governments and organisations which impact on our business frameworks.
You will be part of the Maersk’s global Compliance team with a combination of independent assignments and team projects with main focus on our business in Europe and central compliance controls and processes. This is an exciting opportunity as Maersk is on its growth journey integrating new business and growing organically. Your focus will largely be on anti-corruption, sanctions & export controls and securing progress on Maersk’s compliance programme and our ESG strategy. As one of our key regional focal points, the scope can be expanded to other areas.
Whilst the position will require to be in Copenhagen, Denmark, or the Hague, the Netherlands, a substantial part of the time, flexibility can be envisaged on location depending on the candidate.

Key Responsibilities
As the Head of Compliance in Europe you will be responsible for:
- Developing and advancing Maersk’s compliance programme on anti-corruption and sanctions & export controls together with dedicated colleagues across the business;
- Act as the regional compliance lead, trusted advisor and subject matter expert on anti-corruption and sanctions & export controls to assist the business on their compliance duties in their respective region, providing business-driven advisory;
- Assist the business with designing and implementing adequate sanctions & export controls in their line of business, e.g. finance, cargo execution, tariffs, bookings.
- Building and maintaining the internal and external professional networks needed to ensure timely awareness of regulatory developments, clarification of options available and delivery of results consistent with Maersk values;
- Analysing technical/ regulatory developments of significance for Maersk and preparing strategic outreach in respect of anti-corruption and sanctions & export controls; and
- Participating in external fora representing Maersk on compliance related topics.
Who we are looking for
You have knowledge of anti-corruption and sanctions & export controls both at international, US and EU level. Knowledge of the logistics or shipping industry is a definite plus. You have a proven track record and over eight years relevant experience in handling compliance issues from working for example in a consultancy, authority or a multinational company. Sanctions & export controls experience is a must.
We are looking for a people leader who knows how to drive engagement and lead a multicultural team. You need excellent skills in communication and cross-cultural collaboration in pursuit of desired results on the compliance agenda, always with due respect for Maersk values and long-term objectives.
