Apply now! The position The position is a 2-year (fixed term) postdoc as part of the Horizon Europe project, BUCCAL-PEP. The project will focus on designing and evaluating mechanistic pre-clinical in vitro and in vivo models to study absorption of a GLP-1 analogue following buccal and oral administration, in a comparative manner. Ideally, the designed models will provide key information relevant to developing buccal and oral drug delivery systems for biologics. The postdoc will work closely with stakeholders within R&ED at Novo Nordisk, in addition to collaborators as part of the BUCCAL-PEP consortium. The Horizon Europe 'BUCCAL-PEP' project aims at developing a multifunctional biomaterial patch to allow, for the first time ever, delivery of peptide therapies across the cheek (buccal). Existing buccal patches, traditionally designed for small molecules, cannot effectively deliver peptides. Type 2 diabetic patients in particular need appropriate peptides administered by convenient routes to treat their disease and improve adherence to therapy. To tackle this economic and personal health burden, BUCCAL-PEP will enable novel peptide-based treatments to emerge and potentially reach the market. The BUCCAL-PEP consortium has seven partners: University College Dublin (UCD) (Dublin, Ireland); Adhex Pharma (Dijon, France); Cambridge Innovation Technologies Consulting Limited (Cambridge UK); Catalyze Innovation Consulting (Amsterdam, The Netherlands); Charite, Berlin Institute of Health (Berlin, Germany); Technical University of Denmark (Copenhagen, Denmark); Novo Nordisk (Greater Copenhagen, Denmark).We provide you with a broad range of exciting work challenges and the opportunity to become part of a workplace with an informal working environment and an active culture of cross-functional collaboration.   • Relevant Ph.D. degree in pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, or similar education.
  • Hands-on experience in advanced in vitro release and permeation techniques.
  • Knowledge and expertise in preclinical in vivo models (rodents, dogs and/or pigs) as well as experience with in vitro/in vivo correlation (IVIVC) and modelling.
  • Basic skills in chromatography and drug analysis are considered as an advantage.
  • Excellent written and spoken English is a must as you will be working in an international environment.
  • As a person, you have strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, a proactive, positive attitude, and a sense of humour.About the department Oral Digitalisation and Characterisation is part of the Oral Delivery Technologies area at Novo Nordisk, an ambitious and international research team based in Måløv, Denmark.
