The position

As Global Director, you will serve as a cornerstone of the NPP function and play a critical role in ensuring that Novo Nordisk maintains industry-leading NPP capabilities.

The NPP Anchor responsibilities include:

  • Leading the annual value assessment (through financial valuations) of the late-stage pipeline by coordinating the work of approximately 15 NPP colleagues and input providers from different therapy areas
  • Initiating and facilitating NPP improvement projects across commercial therapy areas, and with collaborators across the value chain. This covers various NPP frameworks and methodologies for assessing pipeline assets including incorporation of the ‘5Ds’ elements (drug, device, digital, diagnostics, and data)
  • Implementing and maintaining the valuation methodology in a new cross-organizational portfolio-management IT system which is currently being designed, by collaborating with other areas in Novo Nordisk and external vendors
  • Delivering top-quality quantitative and qualitative commercial assessments on pipeline assets

Furthermore, you will own the valuation methodology and ensure transparency and alignment with the relevant departments (e.g. business development, strategic finance), and train NPP colleagues in making financial valuations and the use of commercial frameworks. This also includes supporting audits of valuations by collaborating with internal/external auditors and the NPP therapy area responsible.

Qualifications

To thrive and success, we expect you to have:

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Natural Sciences, or other relevant fields
  • +10 years of experience from the pharmaceutical/biotech industry from roles in both commercial and clinical/science; or roles at the intersection of the two areas
  • Experience from the NPP function and/or with management/strategy consulting
  • Proven track record of designing and scoping financial valuations in the pharmaceutical industry, and supporting business cases and coaching across different functions
  • High proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel
  • Fluency in written and spoken English with strong communication capabilities

Moreover, you have solid project and stakeholder management skills to lead a cross-functional team, including the ability to influence others. You come with a proven capability in delivering results under pressure and within tight and moving deadlines.

About the department

The NPP function is spread out across different commercial therapy area units, however the functional Anchor role will be anchored in Diabetes Early Portfolio & Insights, a department within the Commercial Diabetes unit.

NPP works at the intersection between business and science/technology as it is responsible for providing commercial guidance to Research & Development by defining aspirational Target Product Profiles, guiding the early diabetes pipeline projects, and developing valuations for milestone passages. Additionally, NPP provides fact-based insights based on competitive intelligence, primary and secondary market research (and data) as well as forecasting to enable fact-based decision-making in senior management.
