Applications are invited for a position as responsible for the scientific surveys in inner Danish waters at DTU Aqua’s data and monitoring section. DTU Aqua advises the Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries and other public authorities, the commercial fisheries, the aquaculture industry and international commissions. Public sector consultancy is a key area of activity for the institute. We investigate the biology and population ecology of aquatic organisms, aquatic physics and chemical processes, ecosystem structure and dynamics, taking account of all relevant natural and anthropogenic drivers.
The Job
The main tasks will involve;
Data is the backbone of marine science and management work and to achieve a cost-effective sampling, it is very important to have an up to date sampling strategy both in respect to design but also on data handling and storage of data. The main part of your surveys are internationally coordinated however we would like to investigate more energy in optimizing and future proof our survey sampling programs to support scientific work as well as managers, both nationally and internationally.
Our expectations of you
We are looking for a person with good analytical and data handling skills. You need to be familiar with survey design, practical experience on surveys and knowledge with ICES survey working groups is an advantage. Practical experience with coding in R will be an advantage as this is presently the main programing tool used in our data center.

The Job
The main tasks will involve;
- Developing/ improving survey design for our scientific surveys on research vessels (mainly DANA and Havfisken) as well as further develop our commercial sampling programs with statistically sound methods in coordination with the section leaders and dynamic data team.
- Further, to conduct and be scientific cruise leader on our surveys
- Participate in the international coordination of the surveys mainly conducted within the ICES network.
- Improve and further develop digitalization in the data handling processes at the institute
