As Compliance & Reporting Manager, you will join a team of 3 Finance Controllers and a Student Assistant based in our Copenhagen Headquarters, who are supported by GSC teams of approximately 80 staff.
You will work closely together with senior management and key decision makers.
You will have a pivotal role in ensuring a high level of quality in our financial information, reporting and compliance.

Your area of responsibility will be comprehensive and among other things include:
• Being the deputy to the Head of Reporting and Controlling, being their sparring partner, substituting for them in their absence, and being a competent advisor to the rest of the team of Financial Controllers on technical accounting and compliance matters;
• Taking on any ad-hoc finance-related projects as and when required and addressing on-demand business issues to ensure that tax, legal and accounting compliance considerations are addressed;
• Devising solutions to accommodate our business’ and customers’ changing demands and reviewing our existing set-up from a tax, legal and accounting perspective to enable our transformation and growth;
• Being a competent advisor and sparring partner on technical accounting and compliance issues for the team and the greater organisation;
• Overall accounting and trial balance controlling for the Sealand Europe legal entity, including balance sheet hygiene and compliance with group and local accounting policies, including general oversight to ensure correct and unbiased financial reporting;
• General oversight to ensure accounting, tax and legal issues are identified and non-compliance is mitigated and managed in consultation with group legal and tax functions;
• Responsibility for accurate and timely reporting – both to Maersk group and to external parties in different jurisdictions (e.g. statutory reporting, NOX, Statistics Denmark);
• Company administration for a Danish legal entity, including documentation, handling of litigation, bank compliance and ad-hoc matters;
• Ensuring local statutory reporting requirements are met and filed in accordance with local accounting policies, including preparing financial statement disclosures and ensuring compliance with the underlying companies act;
• Following the control framework of the Maersk Group and ensuring that control activities are properly executed (including fraud awareness) and ensuring feedback to management on control deficiencies in local control environment; and
• Supporting the implementation of a new ERP system.

We are looking for a proactive individual with a diverse technical accounting and compliance background who has leadership potential and can challenge the status quo at all levels of the organisation - even the most senior levels.
Your experience should ideally include:
• Relevant financial degree, e.g. Master’s degree or Graduate diploma (HD) in Accounting or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in financial reporting or controlling and/or as an auditor of large/medium-sized companies.
• Experience with managing a team is preferred but not required
• Experience with preparing statutory accounts, determining accounting treatment of transactions and preparing disclosures in accordance with GAAP.
• Strong technical accounting skills, financial understanding, analytical abilities and base business law knowledge or experience in order to be able to identify compliance risks
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, being able to work with both senior management and employees in a large organisation
• Ability to work in a challenging and fast paced environment dealing with a lot of different tasks at the same time and managing deadlines along the way
• A can-do, problem-solving attitude to find the answers to see things through to completion in situations where you do not have all relevant information
• Experience with SAP and ERP system implementation is preferred but not required
• Fluent in written and spoken English. Danish is not required but advantageous for reading correspondence from authorities
