Do you have solid experience in successfully managing large collaborations in the pharmaceutical industry? Do you possess thorough business and R&D value chain understanding? Do you have strong interpersonal skills, and do you want to help us work towards making “Novo Nordisk Development” the preferred partner for external organisations? Do you want to be part of forming our new area “Development External Innovation”? If so, then you might be our new Senior Director for “Alliance Management”.
The position
The Senior Director of Alliance Management has global influence on how we manage all external collaborations in the Development organisation. You will be based in Søborg, DK and be responsible for mapping and defining the need for alliance management across the Development organisation. You will have the overall responsibility for optimising the value of external collaborations across the Development area.
Your overall responsibilities will be:
The position requires up to 25% international travel.
You will report to the Head of “Development External Innovation” and, as member of the “Development External Innovation” Leadership Team, have a proactive role in forming this new area.
Qualifications
You have a scientific, medical, business, or legal degree, such as a master’s or bachelor´s degree, or even a Ph.D. combined with several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. You have a strong understanding of the drug development and life cycle management processes.

About the Department
The department of “Development External Innovation” is newly formed in the “Development EVP area”. The department supports “Development” and “Corporate Development” in internalising external innovation covering all attributes constituting the final pharmaceutical treatment solution. The support involves: Innovation, assessments, due diligence, integration, and alliance management. We aspire to make Novo Nordisk “Development” the preferred partner for external organisations.

The position
The Senior Director of Alliance Management has global influence on how we manage all external collaborations in the Development organisation. You will be based in Søborg, DK and be responsible for mapping and defining the need for alliance management across the Development organisation. You will have the overall responsibility for optimising the value of external collaborations across the Development area.
Your overall responsibilities will be:
- Mapping the need and defining solutions for optimal value creation for all relevant alliances/collaborations with external corporate or academic organisations
- Develop vision and strategy and implement strategic initiatives to enhance our alliance management capability to grow our reputation as a premier alliance partner
- Partner closely with internal stakeholders and global project teams to ensure appropriate alliance management support for partnered programs on a local and global level
- Work closely with “Corporate Development” and the “Development External Innovation” team on new asset or company evaluations and deal negotiations, including partnership governance structure and partnership launch preparation
- Ensure partnerships deliver value and meet the agreed goals
- Develop joint alliance vision, goals, and guiding principles for our collaborations
- Ensure that alliances are managed consistently, leveraging best practices and standard tools
- Manage long term relationships between “Novo Nordisk” and our global corporate and academic partners by establishing a high level of trust and collaboration
- Establish and maintain Alliance management networks both internal and external

Qualifications
You have a scientific, medical, business, or legal degree, such as a master’s or bachelor´s degree, or even a Ph.D. combined with several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. You have a strong understanding of the drug development and life cycle management processes.
We expect you to have:
- At least 10 years of experience from the therapeutic industry
- Professional certification in alliance management
- Documented experience from managing multiple alliances within a global organisation
- Pharmaceutical business understanding
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, negotiate, and resolve conflict between people and organisations
- Business planning skills – experience with project planning tools and processes
