About the department
Investment | Engineering & Sourcing (IES) is part of the Product Supply organisation. Product Supply is a modern technology organisation that proactively drives the purpose of Novo Nordisk and delivers the highest quality to patients in a sustainable and efficient way. In IES, we play a key role in ensuring that there is sufficient capacity to treat our patients worldwide. We are doing so by supporting our global investment projects (capex) succeeding in their projects through engineering and sourcing activities.
As function we sit in the sweet spot between our global supplier base and our colleagues in the investment projects who are considered our customers. Due to the large growth in the overall company, we have also a significant increase in investment spend and related projects that we are supporting. This situation gives a fantastic opportunity to strengthen the contributions we are delivering even more as well as driving change through the investment projects in line with the company aspirations.
Today we are around 35 ambitious employees with diverse backgrounds and an engaged people-focused culture. You will have the opportunity to learn and grow through sparring from senior experts in our department and experienced project managers in the capex projects.
Qualifications
The position
As our new Engineering Associate, you will be part of a team that tackles engineering challenges and advises investment projects across Novo Nordisk on Good Engineering Practices, Design Standards and Drawing Management. This is done in close collaboration with colleagues in the capex projects, process groups and key strategic external suppliers.
Further you will be the key responsible for our project execution model (PEM) which is very well known across Novo Nordisk as the one point of entry for capex projects. This model includes a roadmap of the governance in Novo Nordisk, tools, best practices, and templates. To ensure the model stays up to date, you will work closely with the interfaces between PEM and our finance processes, governances, and process groups.

Then here a few more details how a day could look like…
You start your day with a phone call to one of your stakeholders. She reached out to you as they have their next governance interaction coming up and needs to know which deliverables with regards to sustainability are expected. You can guide her to the right guideline but notice that it is not very intuitive to find. You sit down and think about an easy fix on how to improve this that you can share with some of your colleagues later this week.
Then it is time for the daily PowerBreak, where you do a mental break with some exercises together with your colleagues. Afterwards one of our engineering specialists shares pictures from a recent industry conference. The pictures show class B rooms of two different pharmaceutical companies, where one of them looks way more complex and sterile than the other one. A great opportunity to bring the implementation of good engineering practices to the next level.
In the afternoon you join the steering group meeting of a multibillion investment project where the project manager flags the risk of being delayed in the project execution. You recall the learning about room classifications and suggest looking into opportunities to simplify and standardize parts of the design for this specific project.
You round of your day preparing for an introduction training to PEM that you will host the next day for new project managers. This is a great opportunity for you to see how PEM is perceived in practice. You decide to build into your presentation some interactive questions to see if the new employees can easily find their way around in PEM.

Qualifications
- You hold a M.Sc. or equivalent in business or engineering
- You are newly or recently graduated
- You are curious to expanding your knowledge within the world of investment projects, technical topics, and the pharmaceutical industry
- You can build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all organisational levels
- Project management experience is beneficial but not a prerequisite
- You are fully proficient in English
